Oh my God, this makes me so incredibly happy. Well done kidfic is such a joy for me, and then there was flirting, and then there was seriously hot sex. Awesome combination :)
I love this story! So well done, and I love Steve's reactions and how he's all "Don't take my baby, bitch! I don't care if you're her mother!" And Danny comforting him! *swoons* The end was so sweet, I like how you opened it up to them being SO HAPPY. Grace with Julie was also wonderful :D
I do have one small beef though, if Julie is 1 then it is highly unlikely that she'd have such a vocabulary. Babbling, absolutely; understanding simple sentences/questions, definitely; but she'd be unlikely to be able to spontaneously say Danno or Grace, much less understandably, unless she's very precocious with her speech. It sounds more like Julie's 18-24 months in your story, rather than 12 months.
That's great to hear, that we managed to balance those things! :D
Here's the thing. All kids are different. Julie is sometime over one year old (we don't state the exact age), and she would start recognising and using words by then. We tried to keep the vocabulary pretty narrow, but every kid is different. My mother tells me I started talking at 12 months old and I was using words by 14 months of age. (I haven't shut up since, but that's another matter! :D) So yes. Artistic license. We has it. ;D
Artistic license, fair 'nuff :D I nitpick because I've read way too many fics where authors just make it up (2 month old walking and talking? I don't think so.), rather than fudging within actual possible parameters. Most babies tend to try to walk before they try to talk, but it's not unheard of for the talking before or at the same time as the walking. My Nana maintains that I also spoke early, but she never told me how early! :)
yeah, basically, we just stated that she's over one year old, didn't say more than that! So that's why it helped, too - we wanted her to be able to communicate some!
“These days, I wonder if Rachel would consent to changing the custody terms, since you know, I’m not risking my life every day, but she’s got these super-lawyers around her, and Step-Stan.” I truly hope Steve encourages Danny to sue for more custody--I'm sure he could get a better custody division.
I loved Danny's reaction to seeing Catherine and Steve's confusion about the whole thing was priceless so good for Catherine for cluing him in. And it was also Danny who took the first steps to get him and Steve out of their mating dance and into something more so the man deserves major kudos.

This fic has just induced a severe case of the high pitched dolphin noises of glee in me. So utterly adorable and hot, holy crap hot.

On the other hand, feel free to ignore me!
