Definitely an improvement. I agree that Lori still seems to be flitting around like the writers don't know what to do with her (my view? They DON'T) and I'm hoping when we get Kono back she'll be scaled down.
I was SO relieved when Joe turned out to be possibly evil. He annoys me and I agree that should have been Danny with the shrimp.
I didn't like how they did the gross-out thing with the hand - not because I'm particularly squeamish but it just seemed - again - like they were tryingto needlessly force the show into Generic CSI-Type Procedural territory. That kind of scene is something I associate with those shows, YMMV. Small gripe, I know.

They probably don't know what to do with her, indeed. I don't know, it's just a bit weird, but she's definitely a piece that is not slotting into place for me.
The hand thing didn't bother me - it grossed me out and made me laugh, but I won't be mad at the show for adding a bit of geekery science in. *shrug*

I loved this episode. Max going into nerdy, fanboy mode at JPAC. Danny flirting in the most obvious and hopeless way at the museum. Catherine and Steve. Oh, God, you could clearly see all the unsaid things, but neither of them knew just how to say them. Danny getting a date! \o/ I already want to rewatch it. ♥
I was SO happy to see Danny get a date. I recently rewatched episode 1.03 and when I got to the point where he's in the fancy car with Steve and he all but begs him to follow the girls in the car next to them, I thought "Man, Danny's been chasing skirts right from the start! The poor guy need to get laid!" XD

IT SHOULD HAVE TOTALLY BEEN DANNY AT THE START. And his little "Who, me?" thing when Steve mentioned bringing a partner for the dive -- D: because IT WASN'T HIM.
THIS EPISODE WAS EXCELLENT. I loved Steve's jealous little "Yeah, Danny, how was it at the museum?" and Danny's LOOK and the "okay, enough". KKHAJGHALJGH BOYS I MISS YOOOOUUUU. :')

The actress that plays Catherine has another show, however, it's a summer show, so I had hoped she could still be around from time to time. Sigh, this makes me sad most of all.
I know about her show, I watched Combat Hospital but because it is a summer show I thought that it would be ok for her to do both and is not like she was in a lot of H50 episodes. I had hope for a little appearance from time to time and still mention her. Too bad they won't do that
