Update

There's lots of stuff I've been wanting to write about.  Teaching (fun and challenging).  Hollins (lovely and friendly).  The books I've been reading (joining the happy chorus on Linnets and Valerians).  But the other thing about teaching (particularly when it's been years since I actually taught a real course, and never a creative writing course) ( Read more... )

The problem with NY is that it's the default setting for certain kinds of writerly personalities. (It, like England, felt like home when I finally got there after fifty plus years of life, and leaving actually caused mourning.)

So you'll come visit us sometime, then?? I didn't know you felt that way! We can make you very comfortable on Riverside Drive.....(tempt tempt).

? I wasn't aware that Dropbox was evil. It's been a lifesaver for me, simplifies moving things between machines. Now if work would only let me install it on that machine, then I'd be a happy girl.

Teaching can be a lot of fun. It can also be crazy. But I teach middle school kids, half of whom are convinced they're going to be the next big ski/snowboard/BMX king of the hill.

I think I saw something going by over the internets about how Dropbox was claiming rights they shouldn't have that had me worried until something else came up to claim my wandering attention. I'm going to look into it when I get home, because I don't quite believe it, but don't want to be an ostrich, either.

I certainly don't want it to be true, because it has made my life so much easier than it had been.

Oh! My! I hope it's not that, too.

Seems to me I saw something flit by about it, looked into it and figured it was manageable...but I'm not entirely positive on that one.

Ack, can't believe I've missed you guys the whole time you've been down here! It's all been a matter of timing - the few events I've known of, I couldn't make for one reason or another.
I so need to get out more. :(

This is officially the fastest six weeks in (as my students would say) the history of ever.

There's a whole-faculty reading tomorrow night at 7:30, 5-7 minutes each, a great range of subjects and styles guaranteed. Last chance before dispersal!

I'm sorry too. But I so understand swamped, on a mountain or by a river (and that sounded waaay more geographically challenged than I thought it would).

Next time. And there will be a next time, in 2013, if all goes according to plan.

I've been very torn about using dropbox for privacy reasons (not just them but any cloud type storage) but your post has me rethinking my stand. Thanks! :)
