Nesting

The Carbonnades a la Flamande just boiled over into the squash and yams and carrots roasting for the soup.  I don't expect a little concentrated beer and beef stock will do them any harm, since we're not expecting any vegetarians for dinner anyway.

There's nothing like cooking to make the house smell like someone lives here.

It did seem this year that every entry, you and Ellen were in another state (or country) (or continent). I think it's wonderful that you're going to live more mindfully, making the house smell like home with cooking, and look like home with pictures. What else makes a house home? Folding laundry in it. Births. Deaths. Taking baths by candlelight. Mostly eating together, I guess.

Glad you're nesting.

There has been much Folding of Laundry in this apartment. Also people sleeping in the guest room and sitting in the kitchen, talking. In the absence of animals, we're not the right age for Births or (please heaven) Deaths. I've got a bath by candlelight scheduled for 5 minutes after I hand this book in. Sunday, if all goes well.

Yeah, well.

I shall Blog All About It when I'm done. Right now, all I'd do is whinge and moan.

Like Kate, the book's the same age as my son!

I like the thought of living mindfully in my home. I'm trying that now that I'm living in part-time ski bum paradise. Still trying.

And we shall do our best, and the best can do no more. Good luck with it!

Yes. Absolutely this. I had the chance to go down to Seattle the past few days and am very glad I stayed here instead, puttering around and organizing and such. It is nice to be home. Enjoy!

p.s. Is that a Hyperbole-and-a-Half reference I detect? (CLEAN ALL THE THINGS!) Just in case it's total coincidence, and not to stymie the mindful living, here ya go:

(Her piece on the Alot is also wonderful.)

I knew it was a reference--I had just forgotten to what. Thanks for the reminder. I see I shall have to link to her for my morning comix fix.
