Rainy Day in Devon

This morning, I awoke to a murder of crows vociferating outside the bedroom window.  When I drew the curtains to see what in tarnation was going on, I saw maybe 20 crows perching on rooftops and trees and power lines, including a large and terrifying hoodie crow.  I'd never seen one in the flesh and feathers before, not close enough to understand ( Read more... )

Oh, this post has made me long so for Chagford and its beautiful folk ever so much! I will console myself with glimpses of hummingbirds and the river waving westward, but still, still.

Hoodie Crows! I have not heard of these, and will have to look out for them when I'm next across the pond. I love seeing all the jackdaws, though -- their hoods don't seem sinister at all.

That sounds like an approximately perfect day, minus the creepy crows. Also, I adore Flanders and Swann. Have you a favourite song of theirs?
