When Morpheus left to answer his call, Iris moved her chair closer to Phobetor’s bed and after a few minutes of silence reached out, took his hand in hers and began to talk to him ( Read more... )

Phobetor's body lay still on the bed. His mind, however, was quite active. He'd been on a rope before, and there had been pinecones on it which bit him and tried to shave his head with their feet. That hadn't been pleasant. The pinecones were gone now, but he was in a room. There were yoghurts at one end of the room, and a big snake swirling round and round on the wall. Phobetor sat down and began to eat sand. It was good sand, it tasted like paper.

Phobetor liked paper. Especially the parts that sang.

Iris' attention was fully on Phobetor now, having blocked herself off from what was happening up at Dite's temple.

"You can do it Phobetor, I know you can."

To anyone looking at the scene from the outside it must have been quite a sight to behold. Iris, Goddess of Rainbows who had suffered in silence for many a millennia with nightmares was now actively the God of them alls biggest supporter.
