Forget Relaxation!

Dec 06, 2005 00:29

Lethe did something with that loony Kharite that had chased a whole handful, a smorgasbord of pills down with vodka like they had been something as innocent as sunflower seeds! It had relieved him immensely to be rid of her presence in his house! What a bloody loon! He didn't remember Pasithea very well, but he never remembered any Kharite being ( Read more... )

"Irony." Lethe shrugged. "Why can't I forget anything?" Lethe shrugged again. "Irony." Lethe rounded the couch, pouring herself a fresh glass of champagne. She sat down beside Anteros. "Don't look at her that way, she's a wonderful Goddess. She really is. She helps me relax all the time. Even when I'm absolutely rattled by everything. I mean, how would you like to remember; Every. single. thing? It's not that much fun."

Lethe pressed her fingers to her temple as she took a drink from her glass. "You were saying about showing me how pretty I am?" Lethe looked up at Anteros, still not believing him.

This talk of Pasi was annoying to him, possibly because he felt Lethe had scolded him. He'd rather forget she had even come here to ruin the mood, the air he was setting up in here: "I just don't understand her. Irony, doesn't explain anything very well."

"I suppose I'm more of the living contradiction variety myself. Born mutual love, to love and be loved---later on I become the scourge of all those who would scorn it. I'm the prickly thorn of the rose of Love, and all the other erotes are her gentle and silken petals."

He produced a cigarette from the pocket of a gray striped black jacket and lit it with the tip of his finger when he couldn't find the Zippo in the other pocket.

A cloud of smoke drifted up over his head, having a cigarette, this would help him relax.

Smirking at her: "Lethe, you're absolutely stunning. You're the type of woman men covet, not for a one night stand but for a lifetime. How can you not believe me?"

"My lack of a man tends to make me think otherwise." Lethe said sharply. How could he tell her that, when she herself had never ever been loved, never been someone's.. anything. Lethe sighed gently, feeling the pulls Anteros' wish to forget Pasi had sent her. So slowly she pulled all thoughts of the sweet Goddess from his mind. Tucking them away.

Lethe watched the smoke curl in the air. "Sorry.. I didn't mean to snap.."

Whether it was Lethe's company or the comfort of nicotine, thoughts of Pasithea slipped from his mind. Just another form of cruelty, when one didn't deserve to be thought of. All his thoughts now on Lethe he put the butt of his cigarette in a tray on an end table.

"You're lack of a man, only proves you are lacking in opportunities." Which I propose to change when Pothos delivers on his word.

"The most beautiful of flowers can grow in the wilderness where no appreciating eye can see." Which made him think of the first time he laid his eyes on Klotho, Cloey-Clotho... Peitho, Emily, Antigone, and again seeing Lachesis with new eyes when she took a step out on the street on Third Street Promenade.

Hmph. "Wouldn’t it?" He mused while watching her eyes drop and roam over him. Checking him out was she? He met her smile and fancied her appreciation.

"Not one bit." Lethe said, in a matter-of-factly way. "There's nothing wrong with being naked after all. I don't think so at least. Though I know there are some who wish to forget seeing certain people naked. Ugly people I suppose. But you're quite fetching so I don't think I'd want to forget, even if I could." Lethe smiled.

He bit back laughter, "Are you sure you wouldn't want to forget if on your eyes my nudity were bestowed?"

"I'm pretty sure." Lethe smirked and leaned closer. "Why, are you offering?"

"I tend to find all those lost things Anteros." Lethe watched him quietly for a long time. Still considering what he's said, how sad he looked. Lethe leaned back in and cradled his face. "Come up and lay across the couch, put your head in my lap, it looks as though you need some good comfort."

Lethe really wanted to comfort Anteros. She wanted to make him feel better in any way that she could. "I promise I won't bite."

Comfort. Comfort was an offer that the self convicted erote, laden with a terrible mixture of guilt and grief could not allow to slip through his grip into void when and where it was offered. He thought of his other comforts at other times---comforts he should not have accepted---the comfort of Antigone, even though he couldn't say he regretted being with her---only breaking the hearts of the two that were near and dear to his own heart.

He refused to allow himself to hurt Lethe, or a least he wouldn't allow it this day when he could control it. Anteros leaned away from her, drifting backwards on his hunches long enough to gather the limp material of his robe within the grasp of his fingers and pull it around himself loosely, again fastening the belt and dismissing his wings under the stealth of invisibility.

Afterwards he managed to pull himself upon his couch, reclining with his head in her lap.

"I shall be very grateful."

Lethe reached down and put one hand under his robe and onto his shoulder rubbing her fingers into his skin. her other hand stroked through his hair, watching him.

"I wish you wouldn't look so sad.. I wish there was something I could do for you Anteros. But I have a feeling, that if I offered you what your heart desired that you would not accept my offer." Lethe's eyes, a swirl of silver lost in a dark dark void were locked on him.

A somber smile encompasses his lips as he soaks up her affections.

"I wish everything was so simple Lethe."
