Awaiting something? Who knows. (open to the two scary men.)

Seth had an ice pack against the front of his head.

He felt like shit.

But the kind of shit you felt like when you'd just had the best fucking time of your life. Where everything had gone wonderfully, and insanely, and there it was.

The kind of shit you talked about for years, starting every story about it with "This one time, I was really ( Read more... )

Tendrils of the power of Darkness clung around them for a flash moment while the shift completed. When it was over, Erebos and his son appeared like a bad hallucination on the steps of Set's temple.

Erebos was not one to waste time.

"Set of Chaos," he called, his voice reverberating through the temple from those darkened corners, the black spaces in the pantry, "Darkness and Light seek you for discussion."

He crossed his arms.

And waited.

Impatiently.

Aither trusted completely in his father, though he did not prefer the method of transit. It was to be done. The Egyptian.. well, they would not be required to be rude; manners were still essential. Unless Set chose to be rude. Then things might get ugly.

He let Erebos speak for them, for the moment. There was nothing else to be said.

Seth's eye twitched.

Too much noise.

He dragged himself off of the couch and held the ice to his forehead. He trudged to the door and opened it.

Greeks.

OF course.

Greeks had no idea how to treat a Chaos God coming Down.
Oh well.

He tried to smile, and leaned against the frame for support.

"Just knock next time, yeah?"

So this was Set? Aither couldn't call himself impressed, by any stretch of the word. The god looked like festering disease incarnate, in his personal opinion - but perhaps that was because of Aither's already-low opinion of the being. His expression was schooled, revealing none of his inner thoughts. Still, his most charming smile became apparent immediately.

"You are Set? Good, we have quite a few things to discuss. I am Aither, and this is Erebos, my father. From Olympus. Do you mind if we come in?" Aither spoke in his most polite and reasonable tone.

After all, Darkness. Would. Be. Short.

That was worth a mental chuckle. He awaited Set's answer, still with his most charming smile plastered on his face.

Of course I meant it, Cloey. I've loved every moment of you being a part of me. There was more, maybe, but now was most certainly not the time for it.

Seth sighed and put down the ice pack. He sat straighter in his chair and lost every sign that he was hurting in any way. Blast them. He enjoyed the moments after. Reveling in the pain such a high brought and because of these bastards, he had to abandon it.

Damn it.

He rubbed the side of his jaw in a movement that seemed like an anticipation of something to come.

"You're pissed off. I can respect that. I can even appreciate it. Whatever. You want to beat the hell out of me? Fine. Do it. I won't even fight back. If that will make you feel better, run with it. If you think it'll change anything, have at. But guys - think about this. Really. Let's ignore for a moment that you're in my fucking house. Let's concentrate instead on the fact that if you pound on me, all your rage, all the violence, all the action, all the confusion - the terror Cloey will feel when it slips down the ( ... )

Being incorporeal shifted things for Clotho in many strange ways. While inhabiting a body that was distracted and confused by sensations and physical responses and flowers and bright shiny things, her ability to perceive events as they happened and surmise probabilities for the future was dramatically inhibited. Losing physicality opened up her senses to a more pure form of herself - inevitably, she was bombarded by possibility, probability, eventuality, and current events. She maintained her consciousness, however, which prevented her from the purity of insight that becoming completely essential would offer ( ... )

Clotho was here? And again, he did not recognize it until Aither pointed it out. It was hard to tell who he was angrier with - Hybris or Seth - at this point.

He narrowed his eyes at Seth once the Egyptian finished speaking.

"And if you allowed the link established into my daughter to continue while this violence that you seem to so deeply crave, you would willingly allow her to be subjected to it. And you would prove the point we have made.

"No one has mentioned violence, except you. There is no need for it, if you only do what we have asked. Separate yourself from Clotho. It has already been requested of her. Now we ask you. Nicely. Politely."

He paused, turned his head, then called.

"Clotho. Come out. You fool no one."

It was not a request.

He turned back to Seth.

"Or if you prefer, I can take the path you have requested. If you like, we can even step outside your home. The decision rests with you."

Aither listened impassively, letting his father try to recover what he could. Erebos was slowly returning to top form, it would be not long at all before he recovered himself enough to - there. Seth's words were words of .. chaos, and youth, and foolishness. To completely bypass their request, their logic, and then to throw mud in the face of said logic by spewing forth the most ridiculous nonsense. No one could know what would come of this - why could he not see that? Could he not see that anything that was conceivably powerful enough to harm a god was dangerous?

"If it comes to it," Aither said finally, coldly. "We will explore that option to its fullest extent. But I do not believe it is necessary. Can you not see it? Don't you understand, Set? Anything powerful enough to harm a god, can you not see the madness in it? Can you not see the foolishness of it? Can you not find some other way to enjoy each other ( ... )

Aither made him proud. A glance over to his firstborn. A nod. Then he turned his full gaze to Set once more. But before Set could reply, Clotho, and then his foster daughter and her hybrid spawn appeared ( ... )

Aither was glad to be rid of the mantle of direction for the moment, but what in all of the Underworld was going on here? Tisiphone, he'd never known very well, but the truth of it was that he did not keep up with all of his siblings as he should. However, he would defend even Moros if it were necessary - even, he told himself grudgingly, Nyx ( ... )

"Clotho." Tisiphone said with a slight smile to her sister. But her eyes were on Darkness. Husband and lover to the woman she called 'Mom'; Darkness never the less remained an enigma to the Three. A distant and often cold seeming step-father compared to Nyx's simple, quiet, warmth ( ... )

"Hi." He said to Cloey, trying to play it off like he hadn't known she was there.

Seth pulled his baby girl into his arms and hugged her. "How are you little one?" Not that she was all that little anymore.

For now, the two whatever gods were forgotten and Seth was all about his daughter and partly about his baby momma too.

And Cloey.

Okay.

So his attentions weren't all that focused.

"What are you guys doing here?"

"Come Ruina." Tisiphone said softly, her eyes never leaving her foster father's.

"Aunt Meagara is injured, and your grandfather wishes to pummel your father on the doorsteps of his temple, in order to follow the letter, if not the spirit of Xenia. I think he wishes for us Three to have less work as we take care of our own."

She held out her hand for her daughter. "Thank him for his thoughtfulness for that, and in only showing you the intent to harm your father, if not the actual brutality. Come, let us go visit Gammy, until your father once again becomes free. Clearly, we are not welcomed right now in your father's home by this guest. Grandfather Erebos needs no reminders that when talking to Set he is speaking to family, to the father of his grandchild, a child of Furious Retribution and Chaos."

She continued, responding now to the look she'd seen in his eyes and his statements. "Who is exactly as she should be."

She glanced at Clotho. "Cloey, would you like to come ? You and Gara are so close..."

Now he was really lost. Really just... left behind.

Seth frowned at Tis, not knowing what she was on about, and then at Rinna and then at the two men.

Damn, he wanted his hangover back.

Or the beating. Which wasn't likely to come now. He was noting the change in behavior, and it didn't make him happy.

"So uh." He looked back at the two Greek males. "I take it that means there won't be a walk?"

Clotho listened to everything her father said, and grew more and more frustrated as he continued to speak. He still looked at her as a child, after all this time, and so did Aither, she knew. He was explaining to her the ways she was in danger, but she didn't think she was in danger. Not much. And she knew her brother and father wanted to protect her, but she didn't want protecting!

When she was in Chaos, she was happy. Blissfully, obliviously happy ( ... )

Rinna looked between Grandpa and her Momma, then tilted her head backwards and looked at Daddy.

"I want to stay with..."

But the glare Tisiphone was giving her was enough.

"Oh... All right..."

She slid reluctantly out of Seth's lap and wandered over to Tisiphone, looking damned upset about it all.
