Over the Rivers and Through the Woods

Clotho ran off from the fountain after Ruina and the Norse lady, catching up with the pair of goddesses. Anteros wasn't going to the mortal plane. Phobos wasn't going there. Nobody was going there - and it wasn't safe up here! She heard Ares call, but there was no time - no time for that. Ruina had to get to her father's temple right away, and ( Read more... )

Rinna was blissfully traipsing down the boulevard of Olympus, more or less headed toward her Daddy's home. Her arms were full of that great monsterous tarantula, her Underworld pet -- or one of them -- when Embyrre, a birthday present from Hercules, darkly appeared before her.

"EMBYRRE!" she practically squealed, letting Benny go and latching onto the dragon instead. The dragon that had grown larger over the years. Much larger. Okay, maybe she just latched onto his leg. But still! Latching!

She heard Clotho introduce herself to Sigyn, and Rinna piped up with "And this is my Embyrre! I thought he was supposed to stay downstairs, though! But no matter!"

Traipse, traipse, traipse, dragon in tow, traipse!!!

Things happened very quickly. Suddenly there was a new person, a woman. And then all three Greeks were talking about something she couldn't keep up with, something that sounded quite ominous, but was it? She wasn't sure. The Grecian tongue was still quite hard to decipher for a Goddess not used to deciphering anything. There appeared to be something important happening though, something not connected to the quite scary looking beast that crawled out of the fountain and into Ruina's arms or the big metal...cat ( ... )

Clotho blinked at the dragon, then smiled at Sigyn.

"It's very nice to meet you. It's... well, it's a time. It's always lovely to see new faces, but..." Clotho looked around at the darkening sky, possibilities flashing furiously through her mind. They were coming closer to the Egyptian Quarter, but the spider was hissing, hissing. Like one of those rather large Australian jumping spiders. Clotho created a rather secure, very brightly colored cage of sheer energy around the spider, allowing it to continue to scamper free, but disallowing it from biting anything that didn't fit through the bars.

The Maiden muttered something about Athene blessing arachnids under her breath.

"It seems as though there's some... instability afoot," she finished lamely to the Norse goddess. "Once we get to the Egyptian Quarter, things will be a bit less... hairy."

Eyeing Ruina, Clotho said, "Come on, Peanut. I'm sure your Daddy will be very happy to see you... and Embyrre," she added thoughtfully.

"Daddy!" she chirped, clambering onto Embyrre's great back.

"Sigyn, would you like a ride? How about you, Auntie Cloey? It'd be great fun! And sometimes he'll even breathe fire! FIRE!"

She wasn't so sure about instability and how bad it was, but she liked it here. She really liked it! And wow, just think what DADDY would say about all of this!

More Underworld Things were creeping onto Olympia by the second.

Rinna was absolutely delighted. Her smile went on for years.

'Aunty Gara' was not impressed. But then again, she didn't have to be. She could match Embyrre quite easily. And she did so in a blink.

She grazed her claws over the dragon's flank. "You've been giving Aunty Clo a hard time and you know it, Rinna. Someone's not going to get to rip the beating hearts out of naughty dot com / software barons if she doesn't shape uuuuuuup. I'll have to take some other grandchild of Nyx."

Clotho had rarely been so glad to see Meagara as she was at that very moment in time. Running herself ragged trying to keep up with Ruina, as soon as she felt the Dira's presence, she decided caution had already been thrown, kicked, and regurgitated to the wind, and so 'ported to her side, throwing her arms around her sister in relief.

"Oh, 'Gara, I am -so- glad you're here. I'm so sorry. Tis won't be angry, will she? I tried. But Rinna! She's really very fast. And spiders. And things from the Underworld being where they're not supposed to be. And Styx! And Hades! And..."

She was babbling. She composed herself, and released Meagara, though she lingered close. Help had arrived, and it was Gara, who was too lovely, and wouldn't even make her feel stupid like other siblings might.

After taking a breath, she said, "I wasn't sure where to go once we got her home. Atropos refuses to leave Vegas, and I haven't even called 'Khesis yet."

Finally, the Spinner fell silent, waiting for Ruina's response to her aunt/mother.

Sigyn nodded at the Goddess, for although she didn't want to seem impolite, there was a lot of...activity going on between Ruina and her pets. She did have to admit though, Spinner who is the Weaver who is the Cutter of Fates was certainly a long name for one of her sisters. Why had she brought it up? Was it relevant? Possibly. It was probably some sort of Greek name that, being an ignorant foreigner to their land, Sigyn just didn't understand yet. Well, perhaps she could understand it later. There was so much to take in ( ... )

Ruina's mischevious smirk immediately faded. Take some OTHER?!
NO!!!

What could she do, what could she do, what could she do??

AH-HA!

Very, very meekly, she looked to Clotho, eyes wide. "I am sorry, Auntie, if I was any trouble."

And then, hopefully, she peeked over at Aunty Gara again. Hope, hope, hope?

But it wasn't enough.

All in a rush, she said, "Oh, please, don't take someone else, don't take someone else, take me! You know I'm so good at it, and I haven't had a really really REALLY bloody bloodbath in so long, please! Please! I'll do anything! Except give up Strife!"
