[Boston-local] Have you seen The Kentucky Cycle yet?

If so, great! Tell me what you thought!

If not, why not? Is it the length? If that's all that's stopping you, just make a plan to see Part I for now. Then you can make a decision about the time investment for Part II.

Is it the price? Well ok, I can help with that: Click Here and enter code 1748 or call 617.933.8600 and mention code 1748, and ( Read more... )

I loved it!

I thought it was really well done and the acting was amazing, especially by a couple of actors whose names I cannot recall, but who were in previous Zetigeist productions that I've seen. (Most notably, the guy who played the union organizer -- know who I mean?)

But yesh, it was long. By the end, my ass was sore and my legs were, too. I think fermata9's legs probably felt even worse than mine did.

On the other hand, we opted to see it all in one day and I'm sure I wouldn't have been so sore had we split it up.

My one complaint, which is minor, is uhm, there's a lot of YELLING!!! in the show. We both jumped more than once. :)

But really, I thought it was well done and what an undertaking for a small theater company.

I know exactly who you mean, that is the fabulous Greg Maraio. He was the brother in Sacred Hearts and several characters in Stuff Happens.

Peter Brown (he was the Patrick Rowan who lost the land, then the older Joshua Rowan in Part 2) was with us last in Stuff happens as Donald Rumsfled. Amusing rehearsal story: The first time we got to the moment in Part 2 when the reporters go for him, he broke into his "I've seen those pictures, you could take pictures like that in any city in America" speech from Stuff. :-)

Yah! Him! I thought he was awesome in Sacred Hearts, too. Please send him my compliments. :)

And hah!

There were some other familiar faces, too, including the woman who played, uhm... maybe Joshua's mother in Part 2? Who eventually boots her husband for going behind the union's back?

Joshua's mother, Christine Powers, actually has a theme song now for that moment when she boots her husband.

(to the tune of "I Will Survive")
At first I was afraid, I was petrified
And I was real sad, thinking how our kids had died.
Then I spent, like, 2 seconds, thinking how you done me wrong
And I grew strong, and I gave you to the throng!

Hey! I think your stage manager interviewed for our open room. (we like her)

The world, she is small!

(I'll be headed to India, this weekend, so I can't go, even though it sounds like a really neat production!)

We saw part one and it was brilliant and amazing and it made me cry. I think we made plans for part two on...the 10th, maybe?
