THERE ARE LITERALLY GOLF-BALL SIZED HAILSTONES HITTING MY HOUSE RIGHT NOW! SERIOUSLY! HUNDREDS OF THEM!

Have a very scared cat on my lap, am staying away from windows, and really wishing I'd put my car in the garage.

Ditto on every point there. And no longer shall I be able to say, "Oh, we never get hail in Melbourne like I used to see in Sydney." This was definitely a Sydney-style hail storm... first one I've seen in the six years I've lived here.

You get these normally in Sydney?! Wow.

Well, we didn't get hail storms all the time but when we did they'd usually look like this. As in, whenever the weather report mentioned hail, people would run out to put their cars away or drape blankets and doonas over them. I don't even want to think about my car right now... which is parked outside my house because I was going to go out again later this afternoon. Sigh.

THEY BROKE OUR WINDOW.

SERIOUSLY.

...as for Matt's gazebo...

I'M NOT SURPRISED.

(Actually, I am surprised that all my windows appear to have emerged unscathed. The sound they were making was so huge!)

WE MOVED THE BOYS OUT OF THE LOUNGE BECAUSE WE WERE SO CONCERNED THE WINDOWS WOULD BREAK. WE HUDDLED IN THE FAMILY ROOM.

Which was wise.

And now I'm waiting for Matt to finish bemoaning his gazebo and his car before I try to vacuum up any glass.

Unbelievable.

The worst of it seems to have passed, thank goodness...

OMG isn't it supposed to be summer there?!

Be safe.

It is indeed summer.

It seriously went from full daylight, bright sunny day, hot as anything, to (within a few minutes) pitch black, huge amounts of thunder, hailstones hitting everything, windows rattling, THE WORLD IS ENDING type of weather.

Now it seems to have settled into humungous amounts of rain, within occasional thunder - but no more golfballs, thankfully.

Well, it's technically autumn now, being March...
