“How long have they been doing that?” Abby asked as she joined the small crowd that was gathering in the ARC gym.
“At least fifteen minutes,” Connor replied. “They’re completely mad, the pair of them.”
Ryan was inclined to agree with that assessment as he watched Stephen and Becker continue their macho contest to see which one could keep going for the longest. Both men were drenched in sweat, their t-shirts sticking to their bodies as their muscles strained and bulged with every press-up.
He had no idea how this had started, although he’d always suspected Becker had a competitive streak that was going to get him into trouble sooner or later. It occurred to Ryan that he probably ought to stop them. If there was an anomaly call out they were both going to be too knackered to be useful. But then, it was their own silly faults if that happened. They were both grown men, after all.
“Who do you think is going to win?” Abby asked, quite obviously ogling the spectacle.
Ryan had to admit he had no idea which of them he would put money on. As he adjusted his trousers and continued to enjoy the show, he also had to admit he didn’t really care who won, just as long as they both kept going for as long as possible.
