Phoneying is not an art form

I don't know why, but I've always eschewed phonies.  One of my biggest motivations in studying is to not allow my opponents from playing phonies.  I always considered my wins tainted if I played a phony along the way.  As far as I can remember, I never played a word I was 100% certain that is not legit.

I'm not a huge fan of phoneys, either, but I don't really share the same qualms about them. If I win a game because of a phoney, especially a phoney bingo, then I generally view that as the right play...at the time. Sure, I'd rather know all the words and only play good ones, but until such time...I'll probably play some more phoneys. And enjoy getting away with it.
