Considering that Commander Orion has a constellation as his namesake, it would make sense to look for it there. Before the transmission cut out, he got out "lo--". There's not a great deal of words beginning with that syllable in English, so I would guess he was trying to say "lowest", as it refers to positioning.

It'd be easier just to make a sign-up sheet. There's only so many stars in that constellation, right?

Climb the tallest tower, the people reach for the sky, but it is beyond their grasp. The stars are beyond counting, the endless black is cold.

Similar, not the same. Different. [She starts looking around for something, mimicking writing with her right hand before her hand starts to drift to her mouth. She almost bites her finger, but thinks better of it and returns to searching for something to write with.]

What about lowest brightness? I mean, normal people would say dimmest, but, well, these people are far from normal.
