III: City streets

[Vergil is standing just within the shelter he and his twin are sharing, watching the rain come down]

Having spent the vast majority of my life in large cities, I believe I now have adequate experience in the outdoors to conclude I prefer said cities. The rustic charm is lost on me when everything is a sea of mud.

[Looks off-camera] No, I'm not ( Read more... )

boredom, city boy, not making contingency plans, rain

I prefer to use my reflector, but I can wield a glaive or my rosaries well enough. Unarmed combat is also something I am well-practiced in.

Unarmed combat is always useful to be practiced in. Do you mind describing how you use a reflector? I'm not familiar with the type of weapon.

[Solar Flare blazes behind her, illuminating her shelter with its multicolored flames.]

It is easier to show you sometime, it has been a while since I practiced as it is. Though I believe Abel would be cross with me if I did too much too soon.

[Vergil raises one white eyebrow. Impressive.] When the rain lets up a little, I would very much like to see a demonstration of that in person.

You seem to be quite different from your brother, sir. He seems to be the more out-going type.

As to your questions, I am an archer, and of course, for that, I use a bow.

[Considers Ametatsu] for a moment Yes. We're very different.

Archer. Long-range is always useful.

That much is obvious, sir.

Yes.

Dante spoke of you. Ishida Ametatsu, correct?

You're telling me, this mud's terrible. I should have stuck with the orange jumpsuit - there's no way these stains will come out after so many days. [Leave it to Mary to bitch about stains while stranded on an alien planet.]

I'd rather be mudstained then in an orange jumpsuit. The situation is bad enough without throwing unwearable colors such as that in.

I wonder when the rain will stop.

I would have thought you'd be less concerned about the fashion of it and more concerned about the predators it might draw out - not that you'd have to worry about them, but some of us do.

[Her slight smirk drops into a thoughtful look] We must've arrived in their monsoons - it could be months.

Fashion? Tell me, would you like to have to look at Dante day in and day out in one of those things? He's bad enough without orange. As for predators, I can't imagine they would want to be out in this any more then we would---but it's a thought worth considering.

I certainly hope not. I'm liable to snap before another week of this.

Sword and gun, both custom-built. [Dammit, he's still pissed that he doesn't have Blue Rose or Red Queen here. Yamato, on the other hand...]

Both sound useful. However, I've seen neither on you.

That's because they're not here for some stupid reason. Whatever brought us here didn't let me bring them along.

I've noticed many people have found themselves without some, or even all, of their usual weaponry. Are you in the latter category?

[He replies slightly annoyed by his Sphere and his inability to make it turn off, though curious enough to reply anyway. His hair is wet... very wet, as is the rest of him. That's what he gets for appearing on a beach in the middle of a rainstorm after all.]

Ideally I use one or two "pieces" of my sword, paired with a couple of Materia for long-range attacks. At the moment, I don't have my sword... though I've managed to locate one of my Fire Materia.

I've noticed people have appeared here with the loss of most of their customary weaponry, perhaps in an attempt to limit our power.

If you could elaborate on the function of Materia, please do.

I will still be keeping my eye out for it, as apparently the manner of my appearance... was, different from the others. [He means "not on the ship," but is apparently unable to word it so simply.]

[And here Cloud switches into "scholar" mode.] A piece of Materia is pretty much a solidified portion of the Lifestream. [He pauses, and then rewords it so that it makes sense to someone who was not from Gaia, obviously.] Or, uh, the Planet's energy. This power, along with the knowledge of... [Again, he pauses, unsure of how to continue.] ... an ancient people, give them abilities.

The Fire Materia can cast "Fire" magics of different intensity. The same goes for Ice and Lightning Materia. [He shrugs.] There are other types, but Magic are the most common.

To paraphrase, Materia are pieces of solidified energy that give the ability to cast spells. Correct?

I will keep my eye out as well for your sword, if you wish.
