I think kids learn their lifestyle and then take it into adulthood. I'm thinking that if they learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle that there will be less obese adults.
Hmmm... I think you're probably right for most kids. I think I'm a strange case... I was a really healthy kid for the most part, but I really hated being made to exercise. PE pissed me off more than anything, but I had no problems riding my bike or walking everywhere, playing sports with friends, or eating healthy.
I started getting fat jr/sr year of high school and through undergrad because my self-esteem was terrible... and I just stopped caring. It got WAY worse after the fiance and I broke up... I started eating whenever I was really stressed out.
Perhaps promoting healthy relationships and having a positive image would be a sort of roundabout way of achieving that goal.
I think it's easier for kids to do things that are athletic like that as well. But like eating habits are taught. And finding other ways to exercise and the benefits of it. Stress relief for example as a way to relieve stress rather than eating. I think that'd be a good place to start.
Love the layout and gee where'd you get the saying ;D!? Anyways, to answer your question: I think it's up to the parents to tell the kids no thats enough food. So the statistics say kids obesity is on the rise huh? Well duh! Look at all the crap we can eat and at a cheap price?! $0.99 for a bloody cheese burger?! And less then that for some candy! Not to mention all the snakes we can get. Oh can't forget about all the video games the kids play no a days! I'm guilty of it too, but at least my mom/dad had enough sense to say NO and kick me outside! How should we increse the exercise in children? Start with the parents, then lets talk. :)
I agree about the food thing. No more "finish your plate" b.s. The snakes? I don't know if video games are the problem but everything in moderation. I think the parents could be helpful in increasing exercise, but how do you get your kids to be active and enjoy it. Forcing them to be active isn't really possible... so what do we do?

I think we need to worry about the obesity in adults!!! We can start with me-- I wish it would only take 2 months for me to get in shape for a cruise!
