I think I like your version of the legend better, where it's Merlin's sacrifice rather than a blunder that leaves him trapped by Nimueh. This was lovely, the whole way through. :)

This story was awesome. I greatly enjoyed it and it always kept me on the edge of my seat.

The only thing is that I can not believe you ended it like that. Fandom spoils me with happy endings so I am shocked when I get the actual ending. I am not sure if I am happy about that or not.
