Thanks for the comment. I'm always wondering how he got into Torchwood in the first place with a record like his... I kind of doubt that the HR manager at TW-1 was quite as susceptible to flirting.

Oh, I love it -- perfect explanation for how someone like Ianto ended up working for Torchwood. Not that he isn't brillant, but according to the background Jack quoted he hadn't been applying himself before then and I doubt you get a job like that just by answering an employment ad. *Something* had to have occured.

Thanks! When that came out in Fragments it really didn't jive with what we knew of TW-1, some people have postulated that he faked the history (like he did with the 'Master Tailor' bit), but I think it's almost more interesting if it's true because it brings up the question of WHY he was working where he was

Thanks. I guess it kind of depends on how you look at a 'good opportunity' (given that we know what happened to TW-1). I basically imagine this with Ianto at 19, and Lisa at like 22 (and just out of uni) having been given the job to babysit this punk while Torchwood pumps him for information. She's the one that ends up making it bearable and gets him situated with something more permanent.
