[Video / Action for Anyone Hanging Out At The Azalea Inn]

Oct 09, 2010 22:58

[The video feed comes up with Kamina on the other side of a checker board, eying the pieces carefully as the thick clouds threaten to rain outside. Scattered about the lobby in the background is pretty much his entire team, except Gurren, who's presumably the one recording all this. And for those wondering how a massive sea serpent fits into a ( Read more... )

[Heather is stuck outdoors on account of being a wanted criminal.]

[Heather is not happy about this.]

[Heather is going to bother people now to make herself feel better.]

Checkers? Not so much about strategy.

Chess? THAT'S about strategy.

[Well here, he's been wondering about his fugitive friend. Admittedly, he figured she would've found somewhere comfortable to make camp.]

Oi, Heather. Two questions:

Where the hell are you?

And what's chess?

[Well, it was comfortable before the sky decided to start barfing everywhere...]

Can't tell you. I'm a wanted criminal, remember?

[Not that she... y'know, thought he would turn her in or anything, but she's wound up in horrible situations inadvertently caused by very well-meaning individuals before, so she's trying to be a little more secretive this time around. Thanks for almost ending the friggin' world, Douglas.]

It's like checkers, but with more rules, and instead of giant tiddlywinks you play with nifty little black and white sculptures.

Tch, I know I ain't bright sometimes, but I ain't stupid.

[The look on his face distorts to that seldom-used thinking expression of his.]

Ya want me to just meet up with ya somewhere. I've got some extra change, so I could buy ya some kinda jacket or somethin' with a hood. Then we could just sneak ya into the inn here and ya could crash on the couch in the room we've got.

Then maybe you can explain this chess shit in better detail. Cause these little round chip-things are kinda boring-looking.

[Litchi is just sort of off to one side, glancing up from her book with a small smile of amusement as Kamina grumps. She and her Butterfree are just spectators here.]

It's meant to teach you some basic strategy. You can't win every battle with brute strength, you know.

[He glances over to the other table -the look on his face says he gets that much, its just more relating the two that's not quite clicking.]

Guess yer right. Been waitin' for the weather to let up before I kick the gym leader's ass and I was thinkin'... there's gotta be a reason he's been leader this long if Pokémon with fire and rock-moves are pretty common.

So the bastard's probably got some kinda trick that I gotta be ready for.

[Kamina's expression turns playful.]

'Course Gurren could just burn the whole place down for an easy win! But I ain't the sorta guy that'd screw a place so no one else could get a badge.

[Chinhou gives a visible shiver at the concept of Gurren just burninating the bug gym. Litchi just gives her Butterfree a gentle scratch between the antennae to soothe her.]

I've heard around town that he invented a new technique all his own -- a bug-type move that gets stronger with each progressive use. If anything, I would say to look out for that.

[She gives him a wry smile.] After all, if he continually gets stronger with each strike, you'll have to take him out as quickly as possible.

[He scratches his chin a little, that look on his face showing that he's mulling that thought over carefully.]

Yeah. Gurren's got this new move called "Eruption". Long as he can land it, he should be able to floor that guy's team in single hit.

So how's "strategy" go from movin' little pieces on a board to tellin' my team how to fight?

[Well Litchi, it looks like you've got something rare: a Kamina willing to learn something new. Could a new "Teach Me! Professor Litchi" start soon?]

Perhaps if you pretend that the pieces are your comrades and enemies?

[He blinks.]

Huh? You again?

You got this weird tendency to drop on an off the face of the damn planet, ya know that?

Thought you'd vanished like Bridget an Kirstin.
