crying rain

crying rain

The rain that started falling melts into the dry asphalt
I coldly wrap up this hand that is mixed with a slight fever

Without seeing the tears I walk turning something into the victim
As a result I even end up betraying you

But you know, it can change I remain like this until I will throw away my hope
Always with you I want to see the same dream like you ...

The repeating days are soaking us more and more
Even that painted place of that day
The downpouring night is never stopping to cry
The night is crying crying

The rain that started to fall is taking in the smell of the earth with the wind
Collected halfheartedly my face is reflected in a puddle of water

Is it okay with that ? There is only one answer
This is the result born from agony Please don't ask me anymore

If I blame myself will my feelings become a little more comforting ?
Listen, always I am only pretending to be the victim

I'm walking lining up my hypocrisies even if we laugh together
The rain is washing everything away
The truth is that I was crying on the day you told me it was over
My false smile is melting

I keep doubting I keep worrying
Because I think I can live becoming strong
I keep doubting I keep worrying
Until we can laugh about those days together

The never ending memory Slowly I'm holding my breathing
I'm closing my eyes and exhale
I'm remembering that day I'm strongly grasping your hand
Wishing to tomorrow

The repeating days are soaking us more and more
Even that painted place of that day
The downpouring night is never stopping to cry
The night is crying crying

T/N: For my beloved girlfriend <3
It was not that easy to translate, plus it's 2.08 am... I was sitting at this for two and a half hours... *sweat*
I'm dead tired now...
oyasumi!

edit the next morning: so, I haven't slept much, but there are still some notes I want to add *laugh*
The most striking thing is definitely his use of two different kanji for "naku". One is 泣 and the other is 鳴.
I believe that 泣 really only means to cry, with shedding tears and stuff. And 鳴, I was taught, is actually more like describing a sound that an animal makes (like for example "barking" or a bird that is singing, etc). So I guess with the first "naku" he really only means "crying", and with the second "naku" he emphasizes that the night is not only crying, but weeping, screaming, howling. Like... really bad.

I also find it interesting that Satoshi says "the downpouring night" and not, like usually, "the downpouring rain". I guess this suggests a sort of heaviness of the night, and that he is deeply wrapped within it. There is not only rain, but it's dark and goolmy. This really adds to the overall depressing feeling of the song. I think it is a really really strong picture (and I love it!).

And the other similar thing is that he says that the repeating days are soaking them, when it is actually rain that is soaking something. So I think he uses this as a metaphor for describing their relationship that gets more and more "wet" (fragile, weak, unsteady) as the days pass.

"Collected halfheartedly" ... I really didn't know how to translate this properly x__x "namanurui" can also mean "lukewarm", but then it still doesn't really make sense... so... sorry for that >_>

Yeah, well, that was it :D

Please also take a look at harucchi 's translated version here and read her notes! ^_^ It's quite different from mine~

This translation has been posted on quite some sites already, sometimes with really strange credit or no credit at all. No one will know that it originally came from here. lol.
I changed some small parts since I posted it. So that's exactly what I don't like about reposting. Because there will be different versions all over the place and maybe some ppl will say "but this is wrong" when the corrected version is actually HERE.
Well, I'd just be glad if everywhere would be proper credit, since people obviously desperately need to repost stuff everywhere...
