blogspot or wordpress, pros cons?

i need to start a writing website, mine's been down forever and really there's no need to pay even $12/year for what i can do for free.

people i like are on blogspot, hence linkable, esp writer friends.

wordpress is called wordpress, which is not blogspot or blogger.

more intelligent input anyone?

hmmm I prefer wordpress as far as user-friendliness goes but if having more people read your blog is the biggest priority I'd go for blogspot.
or you could do both?

I use wordpress, and I love it. I've only messed around on blogspot/blogger a little bit, but I find wordpress to be a lot more functional and intuitive. Ultimately, all blogging sites are built on the same principles, so you shouldn't find too many limitations in what you can do in terms of functionality across platforms (a link is a link is a link, no matter where it's hosted).

Also, if you sign up for one and feel you've made the wrong choice, you can easily import all your existing entries to the other if you want to switch, so there's no need to fret too much over it.
