It's truly interesting conversation between the rulers of Netherworld and Celestia. If Flonne's Celestia's future... then... Hm. Very very interesting indeed.
"That's fantastic." Laharl smiled, and stared at Laharl. <~ Oops. |D
Wow, that was definitely an interesting read. It is quite strange. It kinda... bounces around. They seem to trust and respect each other, yet... don't? And seem to sort of get along.. then don't? I... it's weird. |D An awesome kind of weird though.
Although Laharl's hesitance to shake his hand puzzles me since they have a very nice handshake in Harada's art at the end of the game. |Da Guess Laharl's opinion has stewed a bit since then. |D;;;
And LULZ Lamington at the end. TOTALLY could not tell what he was fishing for at alllllll. Nosiree~ Teeheeee~ *A*!!! The knoooooot~
...And, lulz, the chair. I coloured that picture. He does seem to be bit lost in the seat, though also looks comfy and so down to business. |D
Blimey, you're a miracle worker! Three down already. :D ♥
Most of the time it reads like Lamington is just leading Laharl around, but then out of the blue, Laharl will say something insightful, proving that he's completely aware of what Lamington is trying to do...truly some kind of weird verbal ping pong.XD
( ... )
So far, I didn't spot any discrepancies that will completely separate it from game canon aside from Gwen's altered circumstances, so I'm considering it mostly canon. Especially when characterization is better than it was in the actual sequels. But it seems like Disgaea already has a few different continuities going on, so I suppose it wouldn't matter either way.
Well, the time gap between Disgaea 1 and Disgaea 2 is different in both the light novels (100+ years) and the games (3 years). I'm also curious on how the later Disgaea novels will treat Flonne's rise to archangel and the events of Disgaea 4. Then again, there has been no updates on Sow Kamishiro's website for a long time that I'm thinking that he has stopped doing light novels altogether.
I love the strange dynamic between these two as well. Haha, Lamington always seems to know more than he's telling, doesn't he? XD I really like the whole scene, I actually kind of want to draw some bits of it. Also, LOL at the ending. Lamington's such a shipper. :D
You better put some Laharl plushies in that shrine.
Disgaea novels are one of the more enjoyable things I've translated in these past three years, for some reason. I try to break them down into sessions, but I end up translating the whole thing in one sitting and staying up till 1. orz

Ah, typo. "Laharl smiled, and stared at Laharl."
In any case, thank you for translating this!

By the way, do you think the novel story is AU (alternate universe) or canon in the game's story?
