Casey Kasem passed away a couple of weeks ago, but I was neck-deep in travel and work, so I didn’t have time to write something about him. Now I do, and there’s really no way I can’t blog about him.

As I mentioned in a couple of other forums, I used to listen to AT40 every week, writing down all the songs-because I wasn't able to get Billboard anywhere. (I was a kid; where could I possibly get that?)

I've been very interested in this article on Casey and have reposted it in a couple of other forums.

I wasn't fully aware he was Lebanese, either; Danny Thomas was Lebanese as well!

I remember hearing before about his Lebanese heritage, but of course during his AT40 heyday I was completely unaware of it.

I couldn't help but make some kind of comment. I was a huge AT40 nerd as a kid. I don't really have much to add that hasn't been said, but in my particular case, I really enjoyed the songs in the bottom 30s because many times those songs weren't ones I knew as well.

I had the same experience. The first part of the show was more about new music, which was often more interesting. By the time you got to the last hour, you more or less knew what songs you were going to hear, you just didn't know which order. And if you listened often enough, you pretty much could guess the outcome.
