[ psst. I was thinking roommates? you could open with Cielle having her things moved in, and I can drag Aloise back to her room in the next post or two? ]

The dining room was humming with life at breakfast. By now, all the girls had heard that there was a new arrival, and everyone was just speculating on what she'd be like. Would she be crass and ( Read more... )

Cielle watched with a bored expression as the servants moved things into the small room that she would be sharing with another for the next year. Sharing! It was bad enough Uncle Diederich was sending her to a finishing school of all places, as if she were some uncontrollable, troublesome nuisance. Ugh. But she had to share a room too. Cielle wasn't usually fond of other girls in general. They had the tendency to be quite annoying with their gossip about boys and other ridiculous subjects.

They were almost finished by now, having put everything where she had directed them to. Unfortunately the had been specifically ordered by their master not to unpack anything for her. Meaning she would have to do it herself. Another minor annoyance in a long list of minor annoyances, which was fixing to add up to a major annoyance. She let out a sigh and flicked a pigtail over her shoulder.

Aloise was an uncontrollable, troublesome nuisance. As usual, she managed to find something horrifically offensive to say during breakfast, thus meeting her meal-ruining quota for the day (not that she wouldn't possibly ruin lunch, tea and dinner, too). She'd been cast out of the dining room and down the corridor, shooed off to her room to prepare for the day early while the other girls continued eating and whispering quietly.

Approaching her room, she noticed that people were coming and going - servants, in and out of her room. Excellent. Something to pitch a fit about.

"And just what is all of this? Who gave you permission to enter a lady's room?!"

Wasn't that an obnoxious grating voice? Cielle turned to lean out the doorway to see where it was coming from. A trampy looking blonde was fussing at her servants in the hallway.

"I gave them permission. Who the devil are you?"

She really, really hoped that this girl couldn't be who she thought she might be.

"And who gave you permission?" Aloise put on her best haughty voice, but she was leering and she knew it. This girl had the biggest, most ridiculous deep blue eyes, and her hair looked perfect for pulling. She must be Aloise's new roommate, she decided, and felt a grin crack her face.

"The headmistress gave me permission. This is my room now." She smirked, putting emphasis on the word 'my'. They might be sharing the room, but Cielle wasn't going to tolerate any foolishness.

"Don't you have somewhere to be?" She folded her arms and gave the girl what was probably a more haughty look. She'd had years of practice.

Oho. Well, this little harlot was certainly getting ahead of herself. Aloise placed her hands on her hips and leaned over just enough to make the point that she was taller.

"I have to be in my room," she said pointedly, before straightening and sashaying right past. She glanced cursorily at Diederich when she entered, but ignored him and began unpinning her hair. She had to change into her day clothes.

Deep breaths, Elle, Deep breaths. Don't let this tramp get to you.

She followed the girl into the room, hoping she didn't look as huffy as she felt. Uncrossing her arms she glanced up at her uncle with a flat, sour expression.

"Why thank you ever so much Uncle Diederich for providing me with the opportunity to stay here." Her tone was ridiculously sweet as was the smile she pasted on to match.

Diederich barely cast the flouncing blonde a glance, but he refocused on Cielle when she came back in. She looked as sour as expected. He swore he hadn't seen the girl really smile since her parents passed. He hadn't seen her parents in her since they'd passed. It was truly a tragedy; her smile - Rachel's smile, Vincent's smile - still lingered strong in his memory, and every false one she tossed him (like now) was unspeakably disheartening ( ... )

"Will do." Her voice was no longer sweet sounding and was more irritated then anything else. He was really going to leave her here. It was incredible, and she would have shouted something after him about how her father wouldn't have stood for this. The last time she'd done that though, she'd ended up with a bruise.

So why not direct her frustration somewhere else, like at the blonde undressing in plain sight, not even waiting for Diederich to leave the room.

"Do you always undress in front of grown men?"

Giggling to herself, Aloise turned her eyes from the man to her new roommate, who still looked remarkably cranky, for being so pretty. Her question really wasn't a new one. All the rest of the girls knew the answer already.

"Occasionally, I undress in front of half-grown men." She giggled again. Really, though, it was very occasionally, because half-grown men weren't half as exciting. Even the German man's eyes on her for that brief instant, the knowledge that he'd seen her and knew what she was doing; that alone was enough to put a tingle between her legs.

"Why? Does it bother you? Your uncle didn't seem to mind much."
