I see no influx of Dwarfs or Trolls, so it is safe to assume the Admiral has ignored Koom Valley Day. I am mostly relieved. I don't want his dirty hands in my holy day. It does confirm my general suspicions of this place, though, and it's cultural biases ( Read more... )

I'm glad.

I'm also going to see if the kitchen will stretch to some rat. If you're interested.

I've a question.

Are you judging our cultural insensitivity through repeated experience, or through talking to a few people and spreading the stereotype?

I'm not judging the humans' cultural insensitivity, I have little problem with them, except a few. I'm judging the implicit cultural insensitivity in the nature of the Barge.

And that is through repeated experience.

I believe so, yes.

And I'll be there tonight. I'll even eat some rat if that's what's traditional. [Rat. Beef. It's all the same to Narvin. Might as well eat icky natural Dwarf food as icky natural Human food.]

Do you think he'd forgive you anything?

It's traditional Dwarfish food, and the easiest to cook, I imagine.

Anything? Hardly. His patience isn't limitless and I've already had to beg forgiveness more than once. I've twice already come close to the point where he won't forgive me and I don't want to do it again.

Gallifreyans used to eat rodents. I suppose it's probably not too dissimilar.

It was merely a curiosity. I am... frankly, quite unsure how such a relationship would work. Surely there are different standards of trustworthiness and... anyway.

Rats are very good when done properly.
