Things I used to love, and now I don't understand why.

1. Boston Market. Years ago, back when I was a newly married army private, Boston Market was one of my absolute favorite eateries. Their mac n cheese seemed superb, their cornbread delectable, their turkey and gravy superlative. Eating there was a special treat sure to delight even the most downcast and jaded senses. But it never became a regular ( Read more... )

IHOP is one of those places that I know is terrible and disgusting, but sometimes I get the craving for it. Sometimes a guy just needs some nasty "French toast" stuffed with super-sweetened cream cheese product.

My wife recently introduced me to Rocko's Modern Life (I grew up without cable). It had its moments, but even she admitted it hadn't held up well over the years.

So much of my diet is shitty, easy food. It's kind of disgusting.

White stock ties, Harris Tweed jackets in July,
the Halloween when I was 16 and my friend talked me into trick-or-treating dressed up as Dominatrix fairy, on MCB Quantico.

I do still wish I could wear suede pants that fit like a second skin and garter belts with stockings but I'm too self conscious now. Actually, I'm not even sure where I'd find suede pants like that again.

I don't know, dominatrix fairy sounds like it would still be fun. Just maybe not on Quantico.

I'm too self conscious to wear anything out of the ordinary, sadly.

I think it's easier to be a man, there's only so many options and things carry over.

Dominatrix fairy could still be fun, now that I'm not jailbait and I have a little more common sense but it'd have to be for a theme night or something. I love dressing up but I'm too poor and self conscious to wear crazy things everyday.

I envy all the options women have, though. Menswear only has three modes: business, hip casual, and slob casual. Women have all sorts of fun modes: dressy, tomboy, girly, gothic, hip casual, cowgirl, etc. Looking at it from the outside, women's fashion seems so much more varied and potentially fun than drab menswear.

It would be fun to have lots of friends who were open to theme parties and whatnot. Or open-minded friends in general.
