Oh, that's great news! Sadly, it's still probably too early for cherry blossoms; that season is usually in April. Still, I hear Japan had a mild winter, so you never know.

Regarding podcasts, you probably have already found Japanesepod101, but I have one friend who was trying that, and there's a little serialized drama you can get from it that is quite cute. I think you can get basic content for free, and then you have to pay.
