The Abhi-Ash Syndrome

The  saccharin sweet story of the Knight in Shining Armour and the Princess of Bollywood is getting me quite queasy.

What's worse is that everything about this Ace wedding is so annoyingly traditional and steretypical that it makes me cringe.
One would think that the Bachchans would be a progressive and liberal but of course that's far from the truth ( Read more... )

traditions, celebrities

Well, she's a bit older than him, at least that's somewhat liberal :-p

Actually, I'm not - this I would've known ages ago as well, since Aishwarya was born in the same year as me (so I've known that for about a decade now!), and Abhishek is definitely a few years younger.

The details that Dee put up here, I was mostly unaware of - being in Germany has its advantages :-p

Inspite of being 'educated'/honoree yada yada..AB still remains a highly superstitious Indian to the core.I wonder if AB Jr would hav 2 go thru the humiliation if he were a Manglik...& wat an irony tht Ab Jr agreed to marry a MAnglik w/o any religious hocus-pocus in 'Lage Raho Munnabhai'(or was it at the director's behest??? ;))

Teh Bachchans want their Bahu to be coy, traditional yada yada..but whatever happened to their traditions/beliefs when AB was havin a fling wid Rekha in his heydays....
Waht a bunch of hypocrites!!!

She should have just married the tree, climbed on top of it and stayed there for the rest of her life.

She should have just married the tree, climbed on top of it and stayed there for the rest of her life.

That's a good thing to do, at least we would have heard those giggles again!

The news channels have the shopkeepers displaying the bills of practically anything the Bachhans purchases, whether it was for the wedding or not. The wedding saga is getting irritating.

The story of her marrying a tree is funny. So according to a manglik status, does the tree wither because it was not a manglik? Maybe that is an anonyumous sms that I shoudl send to Star News so that they can follow up on that story too.

I miss the days of World this Week with Prannoy Roy. News is not news anymore, its an overdose of things that I do not want to know.

Lol! You are so right about her annoying giggle. Come to think of it, I'd like to know if that tree withered away.

i think the tree emotes better than she does;)
She does a movie like provoked, her father in law does a 16 year old andt hen they both go and arrange a tree marriage cermony.
So much for modern thinking. They need to be hung on the same tree.

I have an update from a colleague who is obsessed with the wedding. She says that the tree was cut down. The reason: She is a Manglik right, so cutting the tree signifies the death of the first partner. So with the first partner dead, and all the bad omen associated with the manglik gone, she can now marry Abhishek, and rest assured that he won't kick the bucket soon :).
