Part 2 Part 3 PART 4 Part 5
The pain his body felt was small compared to the one in his heart. It ached and he wasn’t really sure why. It felt empty, he felt empty and it hurt, but nothing he could do would have put an end to it. As he woke up, opened his eyes and looked around, the pain gradually became bigger and he couldn’t stand it anymore. He was alone and the silence killed him bit by bit. The light wasn’t strong so it didn’t hurt him anymore but as he tried to move and stood up out of bed, he could only grit his teeth and do his best to reach the kitchen. He was thirsty since he hadn’t drunk anything in the last few days. Well, nothing more than the tea Odagiri wiped his lips with. Odagiri… . So much for the teacher that seemed so willing to help him out.
Ryu was in the kitchen, trying to make something to eat. He was tired, way to tired to even stand but he was doing his very best. After Ryu fell back to sleep the last time, he began thinking about what his student had told him. Thinking about it was painful but only because he knew it was true. He knew most teachers were like that but only because they were humans as well. Teachers were indeed as Hayato had said. When one of their students did something that could bring them praises, they immediately stepped forward and took all the credit. Most of the things they did were only so that they could get awarded and put on pedestals. If they could turn themselves into super heroes, they would have done anything for it. On the other hand, if it caused them troubles they would immediately dispose of the troublemakers. Hayato was right. If he would have saved Yabuki, he would have been praised and the student would have been blamed for causing trouble to the high school and his teachers. If he wouldn’t have saved the boy and both of them would have been found out in that state, Hayato would have taken the blame and Ryu would have been pitited. Just like the boy put it: passionate teachers risking his life for a student. If he would have gotten hurt or killed, everyone would have pointed at Hayato and call him a killer. It was like that so he could understand the reason why Hayato was so keen on not letting that ever happen. It was his pride at stake and he wasn’t going to allow anyone to cause him trouble. It was a good way of thinking and it made sense. Hayato didn’t want to be blamed for something he wasn’t responsible so he did what he had to in order to avoid that. Yabuki turned into a complete slut, allowing his body to be fucked by so many guys at the same time, just to protect his own pride. Just not to lose in front of teachers. Hayato hated teachers so much that he would do anything just not to allow them to mock him. In other words, the boy was willing to go through anything as long as teachers couldn’t point a finger at him and trouble him. In other words, Hayato had no greater enemies than the teachers.
When he thought he can’t blame the boy for it, when he thought that he might be right, when he put himself in Hayato’s shoes and try to understand his feelings, he couldn’t help but start hating himself as well. He was a teacher so Yabuki hated him as well. Teachers were selfish and they didn’t always care about their students, but what could they have done so bad to make someone hate them so much? It had to be awful, despicable, worth killing and letting himself be killed just not to feel it again. Teachers must have caused him more pain than anyone could ever imagine. When Ryu would try and synchronize with Hayato’s feelings, he would immediately feel down. He would start wanting to hit something, find out what happened and delete that person from the face of the planet. It made him feel like a scum, like he wasn’t worth anything just because he had the same title as the person who would destroy a student like that. Knowing he had the same job as someone so cruel, it made him feel as if he was the one and he hated that. He wasn’t like that person, he would never hurt anyone like that and he would never make someone react like that to it. If his actions were going to make someone want to get raped or killed just to spite, they he would rather quit doing his job and try doing something else. Rather than Hayato being raped and beaten up, that person should change places. That teacher should be in Yabuki’s place. When he would think about Hayato, he would feel so miserable that he couldn’t stop himself from crying and shaking like mad. He was thinking about it when he was preparing the food and because of that his hands started shaking so much and he dropped the chopsticks. He wanted to beat that man so badly that he even broke them in two before they fell.
The sound they made was more than enough to make Hayato want to enter the kitchen as fast as possible. Since he believed he was alone, the sound scared him a bit. Yabuki opened the door and was prepared to have to fight the intruder, but seeing the slim body of his teacher crunching down, fists hitting the floor, eyes all red and hatred displayed on his face, he found himself unable to move anymore.
It hurts…
It hurt seeing that image. It went straight for his heart and it caused it to shrink, to grumble and bleed on the inside. It was as if he was seeing himself, the him that was then so lost in his feelings that couldn’t do anything but want to destroy everything around. So that meant that Ryu could understand his feelings?
Odagiri turned around as soon as he felt a cold breeze coming from behind him. As his eyes laid upon Hayato, he quickly stood up and went to him, supporting himself because he feared the boy would fall if not. He put one arms around his student’s waist and with the other one he tried making him going back to bed but Yabuki refused to.
- Let go..what…, he tried talking but even though he couldn’t feel the pain that went like a lighting through his body, it was still hard to swallow because of the blow to his neck.
- You are sick and you have to stay in bed…, Ryu smiled, trying to convince the younger one with soft words. Violence or shouts were not needed. He had to be gentle and understanding with his student.
Yabuki frowned and tried moving forward but because of the position they were in, he ended up stumbling on Ryu’s foot and fell down. Odagiri tried stopping that but then he too ended up on the floor, his arms fully wrapped around the younger one’s waist, preventing his body from hitting the floor.
- Why are you here? Yabuki asked annoyed, his voice still a whisper.
- I am here to take care of you and…
- Because you are a teacher?
The question made him completely stop and freeze. He immediately remembered the last two days, the feelings he knew Hayato had and his body was once again filled with rage and that hateful look appeared on his face again.
- Because I care, he replied.
It wasn’t because he was a teacher and he knew that. His feelings regarding everything that had happened had nothing to do with his job. Nothing at all. it might have been that because he was a teacher he found out about it, but he would have done what he was doing right then even if he would have been just a street passer that discovered it. He was doing it because he cared. He cared so much he couldn’t stand the thought of not doing anything.
- Care?
- Yes. It’s because I care. Not because I am a teacher, not because you are a student and not because I owe you. Simply because. I am doing it because I want to and I will do it till the end. You can ignore the pain you’re feeling and force yourself to shout, but no matter what you do I will still take care of you.
He knew his voice was probably too weak, lacked all sense of security and wavered but he hoped the sincerity would reach Hayato and show him he was being honest. He kept smiling, thinking how nicely they could get along if only the other would trust him. He was hoping to reach to his heart but all he got in return was a smirk from the other. Yabuki clicked his tongue and looked away, pissed for some reason.
- Bullshit… a teacher.., he began, trying not to shout because he knew he would hurt himself.
- Don’t treat me like a teacher, Odagiri stopped him. If you hate teachers, then don’t consider me one, he then smiled, trying to help the boy stand up although Hayato refused.
- Big words and no…,
- I don’t know what made you hate teachers this bad but if it hurts you, then don’t think of me as one.
Hayato looked down and then closed his eyes a bit. How could he do that? A teacher was a teacher no matter what Odagiri could say. It might not have been something related to genes but the title was more than enough to change someone’s personality.
- It hurts no matter what…, he began, his voice even lower than before due to the sadness that took over him.
- Where does it hurt?! Ryu began worrying again, thinking it was some part of his body that ached.
- Do all people that become teachers end up hurting people? Yabuki asked, still looking down, gulping hard.
- Why the question? Ryu moved his fingers through Hayato’s hair, arranging it.
- He was such a nice person, someone I admired. When he became a teacher, mine, I was so happy but…
Ryu sensed the sudden change in mood and took a big risk, although he knew he shouldn’t. he allowed his hands to hide in the boy’s hair, brushing it, moving close to the ears and caressing it. He got closer, putting his forehead on Hayato’s as if he wanted to take his temperature, his palms almost covering his student’s ears.
- Hayato…, he slowly and gently spoke, his voice turning lovely.
- He became a teacher and I wanted to be like him. I wanted to be like him so I did my best listening to him…, he began sniffing, sign he was about to cry.
- Hayato…, Ryu repeated his name again, reassuring him it was safe to continue, that it was okay.
- I listened to him …and he betrayed me…, he finally let out.
- Haya.., but this time he couldn’t finish the word because Yabuki moved his arms and placed them on Ryu’s shoulders.
- He said I should listen so I did. If you think what Ken did was the first time…you’re wrong. Even before he did it….
Hayato didn’t have to finish saying what he wanted to because Odagiri could pretty much guess what he wanted to say. He could understand even without having to hear it and it angered him. Still, he decided it wasn’t the right time to make a fuss about it. First, he had to make sure Hayato would go back to bed and eat something. He had to take things one step at a time and Hayato had to come first.
He slowly picked the boy up and walked him to the bed, then carefully laid him down and covered him with the white sheet. He then ran back to the kitchen and grabbed the plate and brought it to Yabuki. He felt a bit like a parent, feeding the younger one, but he didn’t mind it. With every single bit the boy took, Ryu smiled more and more. Hayato might have been involved in fights that reached school but he believed the youngster only did it because he had to protect someone. Yabuki only fought for a reason and that didn’t made him a delinquent. Hayato was a nice person, soft at heart and gentle, worthy and caring. Ryu strongly believed in that. the more he believed it, the more he found himself caught up in the magic the boy spread around himself. As the last bite was taken and the plate went completely empty, Ryu saw how his student wiped his mouth, almost like a little kid, then licked his lips to clean them, and he felt that pang again. His hands moved by themselves and touched Hayato, his fingers brushing that silky hair.
- Go back to sleep, he whispered to him, standing up so that he could take the plate back to the kitchen. I’m going to be here, I’m not leaving; he assured him before closing the door.
As if those were some magic words, Hayato went back to sleep. It was a peaceful nape, nothing hurting anymore. Not even his body, not even his soul. He could have slept for hours but a noise coming from the balcony made him react. He figured that if something was wrong, Odagiri would check it out but the noise continued so Hayato gulped, fearing it could have been something not even his teacher could handle. He slowly walked out of them room, knowing that if he would have made more noise, he could have warned the intruder and get himself hurt as well. He walked towards the balcony but he only saw Ryu there.
Clenching his fists, frowning and cursing, Odagiri was hitting the metal fence that he had covered with some towels. Because of the towels, the noise wasn’t as loud as it was supposed to, but since everything else was silent, Hayato heard it and that’s why he woke up.
Ryu was hitting the metal fence so hard, with so much hatred, so passionate that it stirred up something inside Hayato. He thought he heard him say something and he was right. It was something among the lines: son of a bitch…, how can he be so cruel.., people like that should die…, Hayato.
Hearing that, Yabuki felt really touched. No one was supposed to see Odagiri, he wasn’t doing it in order to get praises. He was doing it in silence, without wanting people to know and he was honestly expressing his feelings. Each and every word of his was coming from the heart and it was that alone that brought new tears in Hayato’s eyes. Someone cared for him that much. Someone, a teacher, felt so much for him and cared so much for him. Yet, he still didn’t want to show he was touched by it.- Why are you doing this? He asked in a loud, serious, almost cruel voice, scaring the hell out of Ryu.
Odagiri turned around way to fast, knocking off some of the towels but soon caught them all and folded them back. It was a rather amusing sight but Hayato didn’t want to laugh.
- I’m sorry, did I wake you up? I was just…..making sure the dust goes away…, he let out the stupid lie while pulling a really funny face.
Hayato only nodded and moved closer. It was easier to move, easier than before and he was gradually feeling better and better so he could now walk without a problem. He still had to work on how much he could talk without coughing but he was slowly getting there too. He stopped in front of Ryu, looking him straight in the eyes, letting out a small chuckle and that was it.
- Don’t lie to me…, please…., he begged, now suffering because Odagiri was hurting.
- I’m sorry…, Ryu apologized with a smile. I was just venting my frustrations on them…sorry, he gently spoke, not wanting to expose himself entirely.
- I don’t need you pitying me, Hayato spoke, a bit angry.
If what Odagiri was feeling came out of pity, then he didn’t need it. He didn’t say it so that people would pity and be all sweet and nice to him. He just had a moment of weakness. One moment of weakness in which he accidentally told his teacher one of his biggest secrets.
- I don’t pity you, I …, Ryu tried to explain himself.
- Then why are you venting frustrations? Hayato asked even more pissed.
- I don’t pity you, I just hate him, Ryu confessed.
He understood what Hayato was saying even though he didn’t use all the words to spell it. Yabuki had trusted a teacher and that teacher took advantage of him. Ken wasn’t the first to rape Hayato because that teacher did it long before him. It was that man that made Hayato hate teachers and when Ryu thought that it was because of that bastard that he too was hated, he just felt like ripping that man’s head off.
- I was the one he raped, not you; Hayato spoke with such confidence that Ryu almost shivered a bit.
- But you hate me because of him. Because he is a teacher and he did that, you hate me too since I am a teacher too. He is hurting me. I don’t like being hated because of someone else. If I did something wrong, you can hate me but since I didn’t, I won’t allow being treated like that.
As he let out each and every word, his face turned dark again and he slowly began revealing just how angry he was. He was pissed more than anyone could have imagined. Pissed that someone like that existed, pissed that he was hated because of nothing that was his fault, pissed that even though he cared for Hayato, he couldn’t do anything to make things okay.
- True…it sucks to be blamed for what others did, Hayato spoke softer, beginning to realize he was being cruel by blaming and hating every teacher just because of what one of them did.
- Did you beat him up? Ryu asked, serious as hell.
- Who?
- The teacher. Did you beat him up? If it would have been me… god, I hope you beat the crap out of him, he continued his confessions.
If the other would have been anyone else than Hayato, they would have probably been shocked by those words but Yabuki wasn’t. Although Odagiri was a teacher, hearing him saying something like that felt natural. If at some point, Odagiri would have begun cursing like there was no tomorrow, destroying everything around himself, punching someone, Hayato would have surely felt it was just like Odagiri to do that. How come a teacher was talking about beating someone up? How off boundaries was that? And yet, Hayato did feel it was just normal.
- I couldn’t and telling was out of question too. He received an award for his teaching just two weeks after that. I know it would be wrong, but if I’d see him now, I’d definitely want to put an end to him.
- Then if you ever do see him, tell and I’ll do it for you, Ryu smiled happily although he knew what he was saying was off and wrong. Totally wrong. But he meant it.
- You can’t, you are a teacher, chuckled Hayato.
It wasn’t a bad laughter, nor a mocking one. Hayato was feeling relieved and amused a bit, happy to hear that. as he was being told that, Ryu thought of something even more unthinkable. It the guy would have ever tried hurting Hayato, he could have asked Yankumi to take care of it. He could imagine her giving the: don’t touch my precious student, speech. Well, now it could have been: don’t touch my precious student’s student, or something like that. Wow, the thought of Yankumi teaching that guy a lesson pleased Ryu so much. Maybe, he could have even talked to her and ask for advice as to what to do with Ken and his gang.
- He won’t come again so there’s no need to beat him up, Hayato chuckled again. Thanks for the thought, though.
They were standing one in front of the other, just watching each other now that they had finished saying what they had to say. The wind was slowly blowing; the sun was setting, arousing a most outstanding pallet of colors, they were right in front of each other, not even 30 cm between their feet, just standing there. As the wind cause one of Ryu’s locks to cover his face, Hayato raised his hand and carefully tucked it behind the older one’s ear. He remembered how Odagiri ruffled and played with his hair, how Odagiri’s fingers caressed his ears and part of his cheek and was now wondering if Odagiri was feeling just like he did, since he was now the one having that done to him. It was Hayato’s turn to touch Ryu and as his fingers slid down the beautiful, perfect skin, his face just involuntarily moved closer. So close, their lips touched.
They kissed.
