"And it's 9 pm again - time to serve the dinner!" As usual, I got 5 plates and 4 katoris ( small bowls for currries ) from the kitchen rack, served chicken curry in all the 3 bowls and the special vegetable curry in the fourth and 2 rotis each in all the plates. The fifth plate remained empty."

I love that it ends on a good note of not loosing oneself. These are the things I have been thinking about lately and there is so much wrong in our system that any woman standing up for her rights is labelled bad and selfish. Sometimes I feel like giving up to the system and then posts like this come along :) Thanks for the motivation *Hugs*

Hey thank you for dropping by. It is such a difficult feeling to over ride. We are burdened by years of conditioning to be this way. It is frustrating that a woman wanting to care for herself is considered the black sheep in the family circle and in the society circles. The best to do is develop a thick skin or fur ... as required. Hugs to you too.

This is powerful stuff. It really captures the difficulty of shedding something you've always believed to be true for something that should be true.

Seeing ourselves through the eyes of children can be so illuminating. I got a dose of that recently. Nicely done.

I liked that the wisdom-- the impartial view of a 6-year-old who adores her mother and sees what is fair and SHOULD be-- helps to show the woman here (perhaps you?) who she deserves to be, if for no other reason than that she cannot bear that her daughter should someday follow that example and put herself last.

Sometimes that is the clearest vision of reality we will get-- the influence we have on the future of those we love. Should we not love ourselves at least some degree of how much we love our children?
