Adam needs help.

Apr 28, 2009 23:19

[Visible to all]I don't know who I am. I think that I'm called Adam, but that's the only concrete thing I remember. Everything else is shadows, outlines. One other thing I know for sure: This isn't where I was a moment ago. This village, this countryside. I wasn't here, wasn't in a place anything like this. I don't know what's happened, or why I'm ( Read more... )

Yeah, I've heard that's what happens around here. I was traveling and got pulled in here, too. It's a tricky situation.

I don't really see how people are pulled in. From what I understand, it isn't as though we were kidnapped.

But it doesn't help that I can't remember anything. I know it's in there; it's as though--well, this isn't the most pleasant, image, but it's like a pipe, and you turn it on, and the water is building up, but there's a blockage in the way.

I don't know the specifics of it, but it seems to happen pretty often. Often enough, at least.

The memory loss -- do you remember hitting your head or something?

No, I don't remember hitting my head, but it must have happened. I certainly have the headache to show for it.

You'd be surprised how many people find themselves in that exact same situation when they first arrive here.

If you want the rundown on the town, maybe a little help getting things straightened out, I'd be happy to help.

It's the most frustrating thing, being so certain there's much more I know, but not being able to access it. To remember it.

Any information or help would be great--apparently, I need all I can get.

...wow. Just a few months ago it was me saying that.[deleted]

Okay, we definitely need to talk. Name the time and place, I'm there.

I don't know this town very well, yet. I think I saw a cafe?

Adam, eh? Can't say that I know you, or that I can empathise with the amnesia bit, but if you can figure out the puzzle of this bloody town, see about plopping me back where I belong, yeah? I often find myself bored out of my skull over here.

Is it that bad? I mean, clearly, it's a small town, but there must be something interesting happening here?

Or do you suppose this is some sort of...free-range asylum, and they're trying to keep the inmates quiet?

Considering that I was used to preventing an apocalypse virtually every other week, this is a bit tame on my end.

If it's an asylum, there should be at least a few nutters in here bent on world domination/destruction, and I've yet to get my hands on them.

World domination, eh? There's always somebody plotting that, asylum or not. If any of that leads to an apocalypse, I'll let you know.

And if I find a way to plop you back where you belong...we'll talk.

Hi, Adam!

Gosh, that's terrible! Can you remember maybe when you came from? Because that might help you remember other stuff.

This sounds like a movie I saw with Ronald Colman, only he had to be hit by a car to remember his earlier life before he got hit on the head, and then he didn't remember anything he'd done in between getting hit on the head and hit by a car. So that's probably not a good solution for you.

Well, it's official. I answer to Adam.

Funny, people keep asking me that. 2008? Does that mean something to you?

I'd rather not be hit be a car--I'm fairly certain there was a car involved in the first place, and it wasn't particularly pleasant. Maybe now I need to be hit on the head.

Well, it means you're not from too far off. It's 2009 now. So you've only been gone a year. Not like me. I'm from longer ago.

Ouch! I'm sorry to hear that. Hey, have you been to the doctor? There are some doctors around here who might be able to help you.

It was late in the year, if that makes any difference. For all I know, I've been in a coma. When...are you from? That's a very funny-sounding question.

No, I haven't been to the doctor. You're right, I probably should. Though I suspect it won't help at all.
