university arc #3a: seasons of love

Fuji notes the start of the tennis season with a slightly sinking feeling: part boredom, part dismay, mostly just sheer dread.

Because already Tezuka feels the adrenaline like a jolt to the heart, feels the slight pull in his left shoulder like a distant memory of glistening snow, during summer; sees the dark spots of sweat on the dull red court, ( Read more... )

Oh, Fuji. The thought of him getting used to waiting, to being second place is just so in character. And I love how Tezuka can read Fuji perfectly outside of tennis, but by the same token, can't understand it unless they're on the court.

This has got to be my favourite so far.

I'm glad you're reading it :) and well, I've personally always found Fuji hard to characterise because I have no idea what he can do, or might do. The word that comes to mind most is whimsical, with a human twist to it. The whole he-is-evil-and-manipulative has never quite worked for me, somehow. He just has... a different world view.

Tezuka is just. Obsessed and slightly dense. Far from unobservant, though.

Fujiko left wearing his pajamas!!! haha
This was really nice, now I really want to know what will happen next. It is very much like Tezuka to make Fuji feel tennis is number one and he comes second (though he must do it unconciously). One has to feel bad for Fujiko.
Well, we shall see how Tezuka fixes this... Thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you for reading! ^_^ and yes, Tezuka has really messed up priorities sometimes, methinks.

Tezuka sometimes takes the tennis-is-life philosophy a bit too literally.

Oh Tezuka. Sometimes I wonder about those boys, because they honestly do think of it as a way of life, huh? Just... Tennis.

Also, your ending line was very nice. ♥ I liked it.

My friend and I came to the conclusion after watching ep 108 (the bear in the cabin at training camp one) that these boys are insane because tennis is like. Their One and Only Solution to everything in the world, the one-size-fits-all remedy. Quite frighteningly.

I mean, using your special tennis moves to scare away a possibly murderous bear?? 0.o
