Oh I feel like I might throw up, my nerves are shot. We got a call from my in-laws this morning. They decided that they want to visit us and will be arriving on the 28th. This is the first we've heard of their plans. We don't have a bed in the spare room, we don't have enough kosher food in the house, M probably won't get to take time off since

You're right - it wasn't very considerate. :( You need at least a few months to plan for in-laws to visit, especially right after Christmas. Hopefully you'll be able to get everything straightened out when you talk to them later.
