Yes - after you post it, you can immediately go back and edit it, and it will let you change it to a public entry on the edit.

Do you think you can remember just to lock them all without hitting that as a setting? That way you can have the friends banner public?

You can select the Friends only then edit the posts you want to be public after you post it. I just need to get a friends only banner made or made for me.
