Now that 2004 is over, I thought I'd put together a list of the best things I've read this year. I'm not taking into account when any of these books were published, just when I read them. Oops. Too many links in this post to possibly keep track of all of them. I've fixed it now--thanks.

Updike is definitely worth reading. Some of his older stuff is a little bit dated, but he writes so beautifully that I usually don't mind. And some stuff (like The Centaur) is absolutely timeless.
