Growing up in the US, I took Vitamin D for granted. It's fortified in everything (milk, bread, orange juice and more) and most of the places I lived in were pretty sunny ( Read more... )

Shit, I didn't know Vitamin D was so important. I hope this fixes things for you! :)

It is! But it's in milk, bread, OJ, etc. in the US, so I never thought about it. Plus it's more sunny there too.

I'm black, so I have a much harder time getting the sun's rays.

I'm gonna try to remember to sit in the sunlight for at least 10 minutes each afternoon now!

That's crazy (@_@) Hope you feel better. You kinda make me wanna get some test like that done now. I keep having eye-twitching problems and I wonder if it's a deficiency.

Try magnesium. Citrate is probably best. If you can get some vitamin B that would be good too.

The eye twitching is usually a sign of stress. Stress activates adrenaline. Adrenaline needs magnesium and vitamin B.

That makes sense. I'm not really sure why there aren't any vitamin fortified foods in the UK. We too can have Vitamin D milk!

I'm glad that the doctors were able to offer you a diagnosis relatively quickly and hope you feel better soon!

It did take a while for the results to come back, but I'm glad they were smart enough to check D levels. The last doctor did not.

Hmmm I wonder what else we are lacking! I don't like going into the sun... dislike it. Good think I live here! HA!
Might go get that tested... since I probably don't spend a lot of time out (only to hang my washing or do gardening!)

I hope you feel the difference!

Yesterday I felt great! But at the moment I'm shattered. I dislike the sun too.

I should mention that I'm black and I don't absorb as much sunlight as white people or people whose skin is lighter than mine. This is part of the problem.
