So many of these made me grin, and provided fun glimpses. It's amazing how much you can pack into a single sentence, the little things in the phrase that turn it into something more. #50 is a great example of that.

Wow. These were incredible, and nearly all of them made me want a story to explain them. I once said you were the Champion of Drabbles, and I'm standing by that! These each gave such vivid mental images. Wonderful work!!!

Oh, wow! Totally loved these! There were some that completely took my breath away- the one about Kate being late, the one about her collapsing form being caught by Castle, "Lies," and then of course #50. And then there were ones that made me giggle: the first one, the one about the speeding ticket, "Hope"... really nice job!

Some of these made me want to read a longer version-for example, 2, 5, 15, 19, 41, and 49. Others I stopped to savor; even if they just described a moment or an insight, I enjoyed how self-contained they seemed-6, 8, 12, 20, 24, 37, 38, 44, 47, and 48.

No doubt others would have different reactions. It's funny how short fiction works...anyway, great job. These are lovely!

Thank you so much! It's nice to know how you felt about them; that you had different reactions to different sentences.

I was thinking of your title (Defender of Helpless Semicolons) when I was looking these over -- I hope I didn't abuse the little guys too badly.

Haha, don't worry, you're fine! You used them perfectly, IMHO. *polishes self-awarded title*

So... we can use these? And write fic with them? (Please say yes, please say yes...)

Golly, nobody's ever asked me that before. I'll say yes, as long as I get appropriate credit.

So can we expect to see killer shopping carts in your ficish future, or what?

Really? You write this whole list of prompts and nobody's ever wanted to use them before?

We really need more writers in this fandom.

I think it all depends on how you define "prompt".

I'm particularly fond of writing drabbles, and other short forms of fics. (I recently participated in a "Fringe" contest for six-word fanfics. It was challenging)

I am also particularly fond of writing (for want of a better term) excerpt fics ... fics that start in media res (in the middle of the action) and fics that don't have an ending all neatly tied up in a bow.

In my mind, these two preferences mesh together perfectly. I'm not sure that the people that say "write longer fics!" in my reviews would agree. (Which tickles me no end. Really an honor.)

So, when I was writing these sentences, each word was a prompt, and I wrote what I was thinking of as a mini-fic for each prompt. I wasn't really thinking of the sentences as prompts themselves, although I can see how that would happen.

And, wow, I really got long-winded abut this.
