*flaily* Well, this is pretty epic. It feels kinda creepy but also very human, what with the designer face masks.

Also, you killed Ryan. and Lanie. That's both a very underhanded way of making the readers (ME!) feel very bad all of a sudden and the perfect way of getting it home that things are bad.

But life keeps going. and you've got Beckett wonderfully in character.

This is pretty much wonderful. I love it. :D

I liked this a lot. Understated but effective, and the characters sound right. Love the way Castle and Alexis take care of Kate; the mundanity of life in the middle of the pandemic (bunny slippers, cooking dinner, Internet streaming); Beckett's speech; and Alexis' declaration. Some of my favorite lines:

"It’s the only way he knows he can help her."
"She gives him a look that he better interpret correctly, because she really doesn’t want to get any more specific."
"He always sleeps like that, possessively, a drowning man holding on to a life preserver. Sometimes she wonders who’s saving whom."
