They all sound really important...

But I would have to say Water. [Almost answers Healing, but is able to resist it.]

Water. For what reason would you say that?

Well, water keeps plants alive, it quenches people's thirst, can move mills, keep things clean... It's a really important part of life.

Not that other elements aren't important, but I think water is the base of many things.

Water does represent much of life as a necessity for many types of life. Your answer is thoughtful and just.

I... thought he didn't seem quite right. Thank you for confirming it.

There is no reason for thanks. This is for my benefit as well. [He can't keep an eye on Kazuma if the kid is hiding from everyone who wants to kill him.] I suggest you keep an eye on him nonetheless. He believes Terumi to be an ally of his.

So long as Terumi isn't here, a lot of our cause for concern should be lessened.

I'll be sure to pass the word along to those I know are still wanting to attack Terumi if he ever comes back, as well. Poor Kazuma has probably had enough trouble as it is already.

I take it he caused trouble when he was last here? [He gathered enough from Noel that the bastard was in Luceti at some point, but it was probably a while ago.]

It isn't surprising to hear that. Confirming it is rather difficult when no record of his existence is in print even in our world.

Their usefulness should depend on the skill of its user, not the on just the elements themselves. For they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

That would apply if the user had any skill at all. I am not a magic user.

Even non-magic user can become skillful in one or more of the elements here. If you can't decide, the spirits will surely find you and show you where your strengths are.

Are you interested in learning the magic here?

The spirits will find me you say. [He says thoughtfully, wondering what that precisely means. Do they choose who they bond with then?]

To some extent. [He has done fine without it for a long time, but gaining an understanding of the spirits that rule this land could be beneficial.]

I think they're all rather useful. But I suppose it depends on where your strength lies.

I have no "strengths". Magic potential in my world is controlled by birth. There are little to none who cause use it anymore.

Something like that doesn't matter in Luceti. Anyone can call upon the spirits and ask them for their power. You just...have to know how to go about it.

I think it's different for everyone to be honest. [ A pause. ] Have you tried at all?

That is what I am trying to figure out.

Not at all.

[Ragna had gotten some word about Kazuma showing up in Luceti. The idea that someone who happened to look like "Hazama" and showing up here, acting all different like it's no one's business, didn't sit well with Ragna. He was chalking up to one of Terumi's acts and attempts to cover for himself.

Why wouldn't he after what he did last year? A new persona wasn't out of the question, but it wasn't like people wouldn't recognize him. Could also be not remembering Luceti and being from an earlier time period, but that's what he's hearing right now from the masked bitch anyway.

But not being Terumi? Bullshit.] What the hell are you trying to say? That's it's just convenient that they look exactly the same?

There is no coincidence behind this, but a reason. I suppose the cat never did tell you, but he must have never saw reason to. [Kazuma is all but dead, so why even bring it up?]

[A reason? And Jubei keeping things from him? ... Well, that's not exactly rare, but still.]

All right, then quit being so goddamn cryptic and tell me the reason!

[GOD you kids and your 20 questions.]

Terumi's original body was decaying during the Dark War due to the Black Beast's effects on him. We weren't quite sure what exactly led to it, but we do know that Terumi worked with Relius Clover to create a new body. Kazuma Kval is that body. A vessel.
