here's what i've been doing: as soon as i get something new in the mail, i go to my inventory list asap and add it to the "have to try" list. i also have a list of "tried, but review not written yet" list. i'm trying to force myself to work through that list before i sample anything new. i've been trying to keep the "have to try" in one box, and the "have to review" in another box, but both boxes are pretty jam packed. i am soon going to have to figure out another storage method. o_O
I have several bags / areas for different categories of scents: 1) To Try 2) To Swap 3) To Keep 4) Undecided (tried on me but still need to try as home scents, or just not sure if I like it well enough to keep, worth another sniff)
Listy Organization:
It's ALL in my LJ. I love making paper lists and journals but would lose that shit SO FAST in my house. So my wishlists are much more than just wishlists. They also include all the scents I love, the scents I didn't love, the ones I have at home to try, and the ones I have at home for sale/swap.
Once I have tested a scent, I do my best to review it IMMEDIATELY in decantations. Most of my testing takes place at a computer (either at work or at home) so this is easy enough. If I'm unable to do this (say, if I'm at a friend's and am engaging in massive testing all over my body, lol), I will write down all my impressions and bring them home with me, for later input

I have a private entry dated in the future, so it stays at the top. I organize the scents by company and cut them. Arcana: Bpal: Possets: you get the picture. Then I type in the names of the scents I have tried. I do it this way because I like alphabetical. It is really hard no impossible. to do that with pen and paper. Then like the others, there's a "swap" "keep/undecided" "haven't tried" bag/box. this really helped when I wanted to know why I hated 6 BPAL imps in exactly the same way. I cross referenced the swap pile and found it was Beth's Jasmine. Good luck. There is also the "These are mine. Touch them and lose a hand box." where I keep rares and things I super love like Mouse's Long and Sad Tale, Snakecharmer, Nahemoth and Dreamland.

Speaking of Mouse, did you have another package coming for me? I'm still trying to figure out what I have that is worthy of your BPAL bulk swap. I might just have to give you 3 woobies per BPAL.

You think you can tell me what I owe you? I wrote it down and then I moved, so you know what that means... Mouse's Long and Sad and what else? there were 3, right?

Mouse, Temptation, and Maenad. Not that I need any more in the sniffie lineup.
Can you give me hints on whatcha like and don't like, so I can attempt to pay you back? I think you're going to get a full set of the Woobie Wiz, just so I can try to make it up!
