Long weekend update

May 16, 2005 10:37

It's been a long three days, people. And at the same time (of course) they've absolutely sped by, and here it is Monday again. I'm sitting here, back at work and realising that I haven't gotten back to you all to say 'Thank you ( Read more... )

The fame of the Internationally Renowned Lasagne is sweeping the globe! hee hee!

I'm glad Friday went well. I know what you mean about cleaning--it's a process that has visible results but doesn't require too much in the way of thought, and sometimes that can be tremendously soothing.

I'm working on another chapter to send you! Again, I'm feeling stuck, but trying to write my way through it... ;-)

Oh, but I'm really looking forward to the next chapter! If you need some help nutting out where it's going, I'm happy to offer thoughts and suggestions :)

I gather that some people find gardening soothing - I'm totally not one of those! My soothing repetition of choice is actually ironing, but it's nice to occassionally have a cleaning desire instead.

I'm glad things went smoothly. Hopefully, that will lessen the stress for next year. And cleaning does help, but it takes lots of self-control to stick to a schedule and make it happen. Good for you!

Thank you!

Every year the stress seems to be less - that's standard, I suppose. It's very similar to September, when Dad died. It's been so long now, that it's a remembrance point rather than a grief point.

Arr. Glad things went well.

How's Dark Fury? Worth watching?

Absolutely worth watching - good tight storyline, and does a very nice job of bridging the two movies without merely being part of the story line (in other words, it's a story all on it's own, and would be good even if you've seen one or none of the others).

And the animation was excellent, and downright mind-blowing in places :)

Excellent. I have a number of friends who've seen the directors cut of Chronicles of Riddick who really didn't like the first film.

They've reacted, typically, with the phrase "My gods! They cut out the PLOT!" Apparently the theatrical version has an entire central character missing, for example. They consider the DC version much, much better.

Also: Further recommendations for Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex.

For one thing, the opening music is gloooorious. Russian, Latin, English... something like four languages across the whole thing.

There's a Director's Cut? *wide eyes* That's very interseting - I may have to look into it.

Potentially :) The first few years were much worse. This time, while the day was tiring, the family gathering was quite pleasant. I think it helped that I had the control (so to speak), given that it was at my place.
