Buffy Re-Watch .... At Long Last, Another Episode

I suppose people will think, if they noticed in the first place, that I have abandoned my re-watch of BtVS. No, I haven't .. although RL has been a bit of a pain! It's annoying that I have to pay bills and therefore work ... this needs to be changed.

When Buffy tells Giles to beep her, she means to contact by pager. You remember them. You wore one on your belt and it beeped to tell you you had a message. Long before cell/mobile phones.

You would think this episode would open Buffy to knowing normal isn't normal for her. She will never be just a girl dating a cute guy. Her life is more complex than that.

And Xander...he tries to scare Owen away with lies. "...You should probably know that Buffy doesn't like to be kissed. Actually, she doesn't like to be touched. As a matter fact, don't even look at her." -- Xander to Owen. I really can't like Xander. Many find Xander funny. Not me, I find him hateful.

That was the word/item I was trying to remember ... thanks! Pagers never really caught on over here, don't know if they did for you in RL.

Yes, the normal that Buffy looked for was lost at this point. I did like Giles supporting statement ... but sadly neither took it to heart.

Yes, Xander is not a favourite at all. Watching these early episodes reminds me why (and that's even before I watch the next one "The Pack") .... his lies and his shadowing Buffy was wrong, and creepy. Although for a moment his being "one of the girls" did make me feel sorry for him .... 30 seconds in a 7 year series!

It was a better episode than I remembered.
