Battlefields Tour #8 - WWII Museum

As part of my trip to Europe we spent a day looking at the little known battle to liberate the Scheldt Estuary in Holland.

Before we went to the location we went to the amazing "For Freedom" Museum , which is a privately owned museum in Belgium. The original owner was a British soldier, who had met and married a local after the war. It is now run ( Read more... )

I love this stuff. All my history learning has mostly been outside of a class, where it's meant to be learned.

I loved history at school, but was never good at it, as I only listened to the bits I wanted to know!

But living in Europe is great, as there is history everywhere.

last time I was in USA I went to "Plymouth Rock", and said I had to go, as I had stood on "The Mayflower Step" in Plymouth ... so nice to follow history through, like that.

I took a great deal of history classes in college as that was my major. I'm interested in most areas of it but I love the American Civil War, both world wars, and Vietnam.

The English Civil War & both World Wars are fascinating to me ... I also love the progressing of architecture, especially when seen in Churches
