I managed to reserve a rental car for Thanksgiving weekend (next step, see if my parents can send me the money in advance, as otherwise I won't be able to pay for it). If your rental car is with AVIS I have two coupons you might be able to use (I'm not sure if you need to show a membership card)

tuga083 - free weekend day if you rent for 3 or more consecutive days including a saturday night.

You're awesome, but the best deal (as it turned out) was with Alamo, so that's what's doing. The thing is to have my parents reimburse me BEFORE I leave rather than after, so I can put it on my card when I get there.
