[In that instant, Keiichi swings his now free bat- mostly on reflex- and knocks it aside, avoiding that blow at least, and jumps back to get some more distance between the two. But he eyes the firepoker which has been turned around.]

[He holds tight to his bat as well]

If you still want to try it, I'll take you on. But, don't you think there's a better way to go about this game?

Plan? Um, well-

I haven't really gotten that far just yet. That is, I don't have anything specific.

That's what I thought. See, while you've been carefreely enjoying your afterlife, some of us have actually considered where this is going. The fact is, there aren't enough tags, not everyone is going to get out. And red lipstick-chan has already made it obvious she just 'loses' people sometimes.

[He doesn't have time to finish as the other swings again; he has to shift to an awkward angle and take his bat with both hands to defend against the strike, and once it makes contact, he stays focused on keeping him at bay]

Anyway, we don't know anything for sure! I refuse to accept this kind of result if we haven't explored all of our other options first! You, too... You don't even want to be doing this kind of thing. Otherwise, you wouldn't have bothered to turn your weapon. Isn't that right?

[pulls away with the hot poker and strikes again, abruptly using about twice the strength he was until now]

[It isn't that he wasn't prepared for an increase in strength, but as he goes to block it, it doesn't make a solid enough contact and the poker slides past, grazing his arm which is certainly enough to stop him for now as he clenches his teeth to bear through the pain]

[Kida doesn't plan to let the kid recover, better to just get this over with asap. Now with his poker on the inside of Maebara's guard, he uses it to push the bat away and comes in for a full punch right to his face]

[And it's successful; the pain was enough to loosen his grip on his weapon just enough to where it seemed to be too easily discarded from him, and because his concentration immediately went to determining the path of the poker, he winds up taking the punch as well. Seeing as his balance was already thrown, it's enough to knock him to the ground. He doesn't have anything to block with anymore, but despite that, he still laughs lightly in between ragged breathing.]

... Heh. Not bad.

[kida kicks the bat out of the way and brings the blunt end of the firepoker down over Maebara's shoulders. Buuut stops just sort of actually connecting]

Just give up. I won't call you weak, but it's obvious you don't have a lot of experience. And if we keep going I can't promise I won't break anything.

[And so he reaches for the handle, hoping to be quick enough to grab it and if so, pull it aside, hopefully Kida along with it if it went like he envisioned]
