Hours Spent Gaming

I'm confused by the tracking and reporting of time spent gaming.  Lots of people will mention that it's not entirely accurate because of pausing, idle, and afk time, but even if it's inaccurate, it's inane.

I don't get an Xbox Live email. I'm guessing there's an option for that.

It says "Issue 1" and was delivered a couple hours ago. Maybe you will be getting one? I like seeing what games they have deals on for the weekend, and it has worked for me, such that I got GTA: San Andreas for ~$7 last month.

And considering the last thing I saw on live television when we had people over last week was Bear Grylls doing unspeakable things to a seal, it's going to be a while before I want to watch live tv again, if ever. I'm this close -><- to canceling the cable, actually.

softlykarou and I didn't have cable in America. We didn't really miss it. Well, I didn't. :p

About the main point, I suspect it's for people who want to monitor their gaming time for whatever reason. That Xbox Live sent you an (unsolicited?) e-mail is kind of bizarre, though. At least in WoW you have to go actively looking for your gaming time to find it out.

If it weren't for privacy concerns, I bet TVs would be reporting how much and what channels you were watching. Advertisers would kill to get that information on a wide scale.
