RL w/ the Master--Stripping the Nemesis

Oct 08, 2008 12:00

[That the Nemesis was still parked in orbit around this dirty little solar system Blackout knew unquestionably--the ship had responded to the querying ping he'd sent it, so at the very least it was intact and functioning enough to be that responsive ( Read more... )

[The Master maneuvered inside, deftly flicking switches and setting landing procedures. He made a preliminary scan of the ship - brisling with sensors... and weapons. Some kind of reactor at its heart, massive open antechambers with seemingly no purpose. Time Lords had always held a disdain for artificial life; it was a strange and unnerving thing, to think of machines building machines.

Suicide Girl skidded to a stop inside the bay. The Master paged Blackout's comm system.]

You've got quite the toolkit here. Is the ship functional enough to provide airlock? I won't get much repair done with no oxygen...

[Opting not to answer him verbally, Blackout merely lay his palm against the wall console, interfacing with Nemesis and toggling the bay doors. It took them a moment to cycle closed, and a moment longer for the artificial atmosphere systems to kick in--air, the disparate components adjusted for optimum breathability, and artificial gravity. He disengaged from the console and the magnet simultaneously and dropped to the deck.

Only now did he page him back.] Functional. You can emerge comfortably.

[In a slightly clipped tone] Thank you.

[After a moment, the armored hatch slid open, and the Master stepped out with a toolbox and a slender gold-and-silver device. He sniffed the air a bit disdainfully and twiddled his screwdriver between his fingers.]

Hnn. All right then, this floating tank's three miles long and seeing as I'm not made of metal, I may have trouble traversing it with you. I assume you have transport.

I assume you have legs. [Yes, giant robots can be pissy bitches. Even as he said it, though, he turned back to the console and engaged the interface, calling one of the transport sledges from it dock in the cargo bay. Didn't particularly feel like checking his massive stride to accommodate the Master's.

It took a moment for it to arrive, a chime sounding softly. The door cycled open and the transport slid through, coming to a stop at Blackout's ankles. He nudged it in the Master's direction.] There.
