[RL--Eros and Blackdoom--Target Practice!]

May 06, 2008 22:21

[Okay, if he had to be stuck in the form of an animal, Blackout had to concede it could be worse. He had nearly as much mass in this body as in his human, even if it was proportioned differently, and the pyrotechnic capabilities were definitely a perk ( Read more... )

He'd been in the kitchen making something to eat when he felt a press there-- he was used to Balasi doing this so didnt think much of it, until he heard the voice. He glanced over and blinked-- thank gods this wasn't long term, he'd never get used to it.] Oh? Well... [He glanced down at the sandwich, then thought about how Blackout had posted about his firebreath and.... Well, there was no contest. He pushed the sandwich aside and took a step back, hand falling to stroke over Blackout's head.] Let's go burn things, then~

[He chuckled. He wouldn't have had figured it'd feel like that, but it made sense. Sorta. He leaned back, slinging an arm around his doggy shoulders, patting his side absently.] Bet everyone'll be jealous when they hear. I haven't heard of anyone else finding out about their abilities. [He paused then glanced back over his shoulder, lifting to his feet.] I'd say we should scorch the rest of the boat but that might draw attention. Want me to get more wood?

Grimlock figured his out. [Before me. He pawed at the board, and it crumbled under his paw into smoldering cinders. He jumped back, scraping the paw surreptitiously in the sand--that didn't hurt, not at all--and looked up at Eros.] Yes!

[He grinned and pat his head before jogging back over to the boat, inspecting it for more dried wood, prodding and poking at pieces until he found one that was loose enough to pull free. He paused after getting out of the boat to snap the board over his knee (well, after a few attempts) and presented both halves.] I'm gonna toss it into the air, see if you can get it, huh?

[His jaw dropped open and he nodded again, bobbing down and up quickly on his front paws. Growling, excited:] I can.

[And it was Blackout's confidence that made Eros so excited himself. Hell, he'd never seen him want to do something so bad, never seen him so happy about something like this. He bent his knees, ready to toss one] Oneee... twooo... [He threw his weight and tossed the half-plank high.] Three!

[Blackout tensed as soon as the wood left Eros' hand, watching it rise, judging its ascent with programs and subroutines that carried over as instincts. The evaluation wasn't as precise as it could have been, but still accurate, so that when he opened his mouth and jetted flame at it, the tongue of fire slashed across the board at the peak of its ascent.]

[Eros shielded his eyes from the sun, watching it rise (dang, he threw that well) and his eyes flickered from Blackout to the board, watching him move, throw the flame high against it and the plank busted into fire, falling into the sand and smoldering there.] .... Whoa.

Hah! [The sound was half-laugh, half-bark, but he didn't seem to notice. Not that he'd ever had any doubt of his capabilities, but...still. Triumph. He turned an enthusiastic little circle in the sand.] Throw the other!

[Eros laughed and nodded, taking a few steps back and again throwing his weight into the throw, tossing the board as high as he could.] Hnn--Get it~

[Blackout waited longer this time, watched it arc and begin to fall, pivoting around where it would land so this trick had no chance of injuring Eros. He waited, waited, until it was only a few yards from the sand...

And then he lashed out, blasting it with a lick of fire strong enough to send it spinning sideways through the air before gravity reclaimed it and it hit the beach.]

Haha! [He had wondered about how Blackout was going to get it in time, but he had and as usual, it was impressive. He moved around to inspect it like the other, giving Blackout a lingering pat before crouching. This one was more scorched than the other, even the sand around it singed from the impact, where the other hadn't.] You're getting better at this~

Of course I am. [He was smug, so proud of himself.] I'm a fast learner. [He followed, dipping low to nose at the board and the blackened sand--and inhaled without thinking about it. He sneezed reflexively and fire lashed the sand at his feet. He yelped and jumped back, tail lashing, then immediately his eyes sought Eros. Had he been too close, had he been hit--?!]

[Eros had seen the sneeze coming, thankfully; heard him inhale and made to move back and thankfully his sandles were the only things singed. He kicked them off and watched them smolder down.]

I'm fine! [he declared after a moment, sporting a relieved smile.]

Good. [He relaxed at the declaration with something like a sigh, nodding once, and stepped closer to the crater of charred sand the blast had left behind. He wondered...

One paw reached, dug down into the sand at the bottom. As he'd half suspected, he turned up an irregular flattened lump of something solid. He hesitated a moment before picking it up in his jaws--hot to the touch, but not enough to burn. He trotted over and dropped it in the sand at Eros' feet.] I seem to have made glass. [Soot covered glass that would probably be cloudy once it was cleaned, but glass nonetheless.]

[Eros didn't get it and stared at the lump for a long moment, hoping it really wasn't what he thought it wa-- Oh. OH. Right, sand, glass-- OHHH.

He reached to turn it over, brushing away some soot.] Oooh, Should blast some sand, see what kind of shapes you can make. I'll... I'll do something special if you manage to make me a cup. [Smirky McSmirkins. Well, he wasn't sure what 'something special' was but hell, he wanted a fire-blasted cup.]
