This has been a lovely summer so far, hasn't it? I hope everyone has been enjoying the fine weather--and the time off from your studies, for those of you who are still in school

Good ideas, Mr. P! Like, we have a craft room, but like, I think we need some "modifications" to it. Can't do much with cloth if we can't have scissors, right? I think, like, we need some more craft ideas and "not against regulation" material.
If you ever have any time to swing by our prison, I'd love to help you think some stuff up! Thanks for caring about us naughty little jailbirds.
Thank you, Ms. Miney! Those are some interesting concerns you bring up. Many crafts do seem to involve materials that wouldn't ordinarily be allowed at a prison, but under supervision, it might be workable.
I was also considering making musical instruments available. And lessons in various things that it might be difficult to learn on your own. And painting classes involving art therapy.
I do tend to get overexcited about a new idea at first, however, so I'll have to do some research to see what's practical before I decide anything definite.
I am planning to visit the prison, so I will be sure to make some time for you while I'm there. You're quite welcome.
Good that the suggestion was helpful. If there's anything I can do to assist with the program, please let me know.
Ms. Miney's concerns are legitimate. It's unlikely that we will be permitted to work with anything more deadly than all-plastic scissors. Paper-based crafts, such as origami, collage, paper making, paper-mache modelling etc would be safe, I should think? As well as any drawing or painting. Or creating items out of clay--on throwing wheels or modeled by hand/with toothpicks/popsicle sticks/safe plastic tools.
Your suggestion of a painting class as art therapy sounds excellent. As does your thoughts of a music class. If there's interest, what are your thoughts on a writing workshop? Many of us have already begun to explore our thoughts via these journals. It may not be such a great step towards prose or poetry and may prove quite theraputic.
Yes, it was extremely helpful! Somehow I hadn't thought of that before, not in those terms. You have so many wonderful ideas, I'm most impressed, Ms. Skye. I will take everything you've said into consideration.
I am glad you think the art therapy is a good option. The most important part of a prison outreach program should be its therapeutic aspect. A writing program sounds equally beneficial. Creativity and self-expression are so good for the soul. Also, I would love to read creative works from some of the prisoners, if they were willing to share!
I'm really looking forward to your visit, Mr Palaeno, I'm sure other people here are too. I've been trying out ideas for a craft that I could do lately, Diego and I have been giving leatherwork some thought, but the tools might be a problem. Painting sounds interesting, but clay sounds even better. I like to work with my hands.
Ice cream would be good right now. What's your favorite flavor? I hope you're able to spend some time with your family soon.
I'm also looking forward to meeting you in person, Mr. Ken!
The tools seem to be a problem with many such crafts, though as I said to Ms. Miney, perhaps under proper supervision it might be all right? I wouldn't want to put anyone in any danger, and I would need to clear everything with the prison administrators. Pottery is another very good idea! I imagine you could do that without any potentially harmful tools.
As for ice cream, I'm rather unexciting. My favorite flavor is simply strawberry. I prefer the kind that has actual strawberry pieces in it. They taste so nice when they're frozen. And what is your favorite flavor? I hope they let you have ice cream in prison every now and again.
I do hope I'll see my family sometime soon. Things have been so busy, and my return visit to Cohdopia keeps getting pushed back.
