it is one thing to make a mistake, it is another thing to keep making it. i know what happens when you let yourself get close to someone, when you start to believe they love you: you'll be disappointed. depend on someone, and you might as well admit you're going to be crushed, because when you really need them, they won't be there. either that, or you'll confide to them and add to their problems. all you ever really have is yourself, and that sort of sucks if you're less than reliable.
